Robin Reid was almost competitive with a green, injured Calzaghe. He should be ranked higher.

Re Calzaghe...............he is unbeaten true.. But is coming to the end of
his career. Pavlik has a great chin. and strong, what a puncher.
I never have been a Calzaghe fan because his apponents have been
carefully chosen,, and not great punchers like Kelly.
I think Pavlik will be a great champ. BUT lets see more lateral body movement
    and head movement.
    GOOD LUCK KELLY

Calzaghe can throw those flurries that JT threw, but without exhausting himself the way Taylor did. I also have to imagine this is wide UD or late TKO

People think just cause Calzaghe is quick and soft handed hes a boxer, but judging from his last few fights he actually looks like a brawler.

I give Pavlik a good chance, if calzaghe chooses to brawl against pavlik.

That is funny what was it everyone said before Lacy fought Calzaghe? Oh yeah hits too hard. It is NOTHING to do with bias and being "Euro". I have always said that someone like RJJ in his prime would outclass Calzaghe and with ease.
But Pavlik is simply not that good. He is being hyped because he beat Taylor, well sorry but I am not basing Calzaghes ability purely on the big win against Lacy, I am basing on actual attributes and the fact that he has beaten a far better list of fighters than the smaller Pavlik.

BTW, I think Calzaghe is afraid of Pavlik.

He wanted to fight Taylor instead.

Really? So you think Taylor who has had several gifts is better than Chris Eubank?
Who on Pavliks resume is better than Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell and Lacy?

    :lol::lol::lol:

This is unbelievable. I was one of Calzaghes biggest critics, but when everyone said there was no chance he would dare face Lacy, he did. Everyone said he is getting KO'd, he wasted Lacy and now Lacy is portrayed as crap by the revisionists.
Then EVERYONE says he will never face Kessler and what a coward he is, watch him duck Kessler and now he is fighting Kessler.

So the latest one is he is scared of Pavlik and if he signed to fight Pavlik and beat him you would all say he was a coward for fighting a blown up middleweight and that he was ducking X, Y and Z.

Gifts or not, he beat an ATG in Hopkins 2x, that right there is better than all those waste of letters up there.

You don't think Lacy has heart? The guy went over to Calzaghes backyard, and in front of thousands of baying fans he fought 12 rounds taking an absolute beating every minute of every round and yet came out for the final round still trying to fight and refusing to be stopped or quit.

When has Calzaghe ever faced an opponent like Pavlik?

He beat Lacy, but Lacy was also, shorter, slower, and one dimensional.

Lacy also lacked the workrate that was necessary and goes to the head far too much.

Not only that, but had half as many fights as Calzaghe.

Calzaghe is a good fighter, don't get me wrong, but when has he ever been in with a puncher like Pavlik?

    He doesn't want any.

I didn't say he would duck him though. I think he will accept if he wins against Kessler, he'll have to likely fight Pavlik.

Shows how pig ignorant you are about boxing if you think the likes of Eubank class as a "waste of letters".

In the fight game you gotta prove yourself, Calzaghes last three fights read like this : Lacy, Bika, by UD and Manfredo by BS stopagge . Pavliks read like this Zertuche, Miranda, and Lineal MW Champ Taylor all by KO. You tell me who has earned their respect? Pavlik or Calcracky?

Pavlik is one dimensional and Lacy is just as big a puncher as Pavlik. Mitchell was a banger too and so was Reid and so was Eubank. So to answer your question he has been in with several guys who were big punchers at Super Middle. Pavlik is a big puncher at Middle and there is nothing to say his power will just carry up the same. Look at someone like Guzman as an example of how one weight class can alter the impact of a puncher.

And Pavlik is very much a Lacy, in that he is slow, come forward and relys on his pressure and power. NOBODY was saying Lacy was overrated until he got done by Calzaghe. And he had blown away guys like Reid who had never even been floored in their careers never mind stopped.

If Calzaghe beats Kessler then he will move up to light heavy so this fight wont happen, but if by some miracle it does, I would put my house on Pavlik being comprehensively outboxed and busted up.
