When did Tyson ever need to lose 30 lbs for a fight?

For as much promotion as Tyson took part it, I think we would have seen him sporting a big ol' Cheetos gut but I know I never have.

James Toney was a solid 205lbs in college, then fought his first pro fight at 159.

Tyson was never 250 lbs. He was always in pretty good shape. Plus, he was a HW. They don't need to make a specific weight.

Toney: 47 pounds in 6 weeks for Jones according to various accounts.

I'm thinking Vince Phillips came down from 190 to 140 for a jr. welter fight in a few weeks time, but I can't remember the details. Maybe someone here will.

Sure Mike Tyson was out of shape a few times the first time in 1990 i think for the Douglas fight he was about 20 Pounds overweight and in 1999 after serving his second time in jail it was reported that he weighted around 280 pounds (there is a picture of it but i can't find it he wears a white t-shirt and stands beside a Lexus suv he looks really fat in this picture )and look at
his carrer in the years after 1999 he always fighted with a plus of
10-15 pounds. Mike Tyson i think was overall to massive with his brickhouse stature and his obeseness in his family add to his body he had to carry to much at 5`10 but with his one in a million stature he could been everything from a rugby player to a quaterback in american football or a body builder ... everything where you needed power and massiveness
His body with his massiveness needed to much energy so he had to be at his best physical add his lifestyle with all the girls the hype and partys to it and you understand why he lasted only 3-4 years on top when you copare him with other greats with almost the same stature and fighting style like Frazier and Marciano all in all you wonder tyson was faster more powerful and was technical better but they lasted longer and have a better resume
(marciano) because they were more disciplend and they were not as big as tyson and when you watch the first holyfield fight i think tyson trained good but lost because of the ring rust (jail) and of cours stamina for holyfield II he was in even better shape but he would also be koed in this fight when the biting wouldn`t be. When look at the oldies Marciano and Frazier they had never any stamina problems and remember there were 15 rounders and in thougher fights.
But there are of course a lot of other reasons why tyson not lasted as long
as frazier and marciano but the stamina issue is one major reason i think all in all he was also to uncompromising with his lifestyle and his fighting style ( watch his losses all losses came trough ko although he had an A grade chin i think that`s really unique in heavyweight history and even in boxing history.

When Gatti fought Gamache and Munoz he came into the ring at 160 pounds. He had to drain 20 pounds to make the weight, the fights were at 140.

Ive only read two boxing books in my life...and one of the two was about the Tyson-Douglas fight (titled the "Last Great Fight")

Really good book...anyway the book talks about after Cus died Tysons discipline wasnt that great and he might blow up sumtimes between fights...like all the way up to 260 and stuff

Tyson carried his weight pretty well though. Considering his short stature, he looked a hell of a lot better than James Toney at 230+ pounds.

    That is outright crazy Darnell.

Those are just the kind of weight losses that make people lose their punch resistence, period.
