i agree with you when you say the overeem match is a must, but im not sure if he has his way with lesnar .i think if brock took fedor down and stayed chest to chest i think he has a good shot to score the upset.but its a shame we will never get to see it,and i think brock needs to worry about getting healthy and defending that strap against carwin.:goodinstead of fedor
That might be the case in the HW division but in terms of skills i didn't see anything tonight that puts Fedor ahead of Anderson Silva, i couldn't believe how Roger's had him mounted and was raining down big shots on him, you simply don't see that happening to the other pound for pound guys these days, compare Silva's last fight to this and it's night and day, Anderson's opponant was more proven at the highest level too.
This, I don't see how Fedor can be the p4p king when he was getting battered by Rogers....Anderson rarely even gets hit now a days
Rogers proved that he is indeed a very good fighter but you dont deserve a rematch when you get dominated and KTFO.
You obviously don't watch enough Fedor fights, Fedor gets hurt in his fights plenty of times and the opponent looks like he will win but Fedor always comes back and finish it. That's his style and what makes him exciting.
It might be exciting but it devalues the claim that he's the "pound for pound king" though, because when you have a man simply embarrassing his opponants like Silva is without even getting touched then it's hard to argue that Fedor is better than him imo.
Erm 1. Rogers damn near broke Fedors nose with his first jab 2. he was rughing Fedor up against the Cage 3. he was on top of Fedor and landed some massive blows Those are the facts there, my point is he didn't look like the "pound for pound king" tonight, those three things i listed just doesn't happen to the other p4p guys such as Silva, Gsp etc.
Rogers never had Fedor mounted, he was in his guard. If you want to see a fighter mounted then check out Anderson Silva's fight against Travis Lutter in which he's taken down repeatedly, has his guard passed and is flailing his arms wildly as Lutter rains down punches from full mount (until he goes for a shitty armbar attempt and loses position). One thing to bear in mind is that you don't see the other pound for pound guys fighting people 50 lbs bigger and 5" taller than themselves.
Again Silva fights guys who are SMALLER then himself, Fedor is almost always the Smaller guy and Fedor wins EVERYTIME. I'd be suprised if Rogers landed more then 5 punch in this fight, any stats available yet?
It's well known that Silva had surgery on BOTH knees before the Lutter fight which is why his takedown defence was sloppy, he might have been mounted but was he in sort of trouble Rogers had Fedor in tonight? nah i don't think so, and since the Lutter fight Silva hasn't been mounted, and Fedor might be fighting "bigger men" but when they've only had 10 fights with their best win coming against a wash up Arlovski then it's nothing to write home about to be honest, the bottom line is that's two fights in a row where Fedor has looked vulnerable, he was getting beaten up on the feet by Arlovski and he was pounded by Rogers, yes he still won but others are dominating in a more convincing fashion imo.
