Yeah they tried to arrange the fight a few times but Calzaghe got injured or whatever and it never happened. Bit of a cluster**** in hindsight but at the time it was no biggy. It simply wasnt ever a fight that had to happen.

The only thing that did was save Glen from a one sided UD loss.

Had Joe actually fought Glen his **** poor 168lb record would no doubt be held up as proof that Joe was just fighting another bum.

 

It's not really possible to 'duck' someone who is fighting a weight division above you.

If you didn't fancy fighting them, it would be really easy, you just wouldn't arrange a fight against them.

Calzaghe signed to fight Johnson twice and tried to rearrange a fight with him on a third occasion. If he had no wish to fight him there was no need for him to do any of those things.

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Calzaghe beat better fighters than Johnson. He beat fighters who beat Johnson and fighters who beat fighters who beat Johnson.

And it would have been an easy fight stylewise for Calzaghe. That's fairly clear.

 

Nope, the only thing your statement proves that you have an unhealthy affliction for Calzagwhatever. Johnson was always a thread and a challenge for all he fought. Isn't he from Jamaica anyway, shouldn't all you Britfags be torn who's dick to suck here? Or does it go: white guy first then a black guy in a pinch.

 

He would have a hard time jumping up to 175lbs to fight the man who just knocked out Roy Jones. That's fairly clear. It would be far from an easy fight, Glen Johnson has made better fighters than Calzaghe look bad.

 

The story was that he was injured and going through a messy divorce. I think he would have beaten Johnson.

 

I believe a fight was suppose to happen in 2000 but Johnson dropping several disappointing decisions didn't help his cause. Calzaghe went on to dominate and stop Omar Sheika who had just defeated Johnson in a close fight that summer.

Another fight was suppose to take place but Calzaghe hurt his hand and a more meaningful fight with Lacey materialized.

 

There's always two parties (at least) in a negotiation, with different ideas and views of whats fair and reasonable. Always gonna be two sides to the story when negotiations fail.
