Yes it is, it's as good as the belts both Klitschkos have and obviously above the WBO.

Wladimir is the main man in the division now, but is he the real lineal champion?, not till we see him fight and beat all which he will. Both Klitschkos are all about major fights like Haye is. Finally the division is getting exciting.

The WBA title has been completely meaningless since LL vacated it and Ruiz and Holy got involved in that horrible merrigoround. Since then its basically been Don Kings title pretty much until Suerland got hold of it. For the best part of a decade its swapped hands faster than a ***** could change her draws. Zero consistency. Haye wont be a long reigning champ so the tradition will remain the same.

Even though I'll never like Haye b/c his trash talking and lack of class, I will admit that he has helped bring some excitement to the heavyweight division. I'm curious how his fight with Ruiz will be.

IMO the last nights fight with Valuev vs. Haye, wasn´t the best fight of the year.. i think david Haye did very little to show us that he wanted to win.. he should have counterpunched a lot more, and should have attacked some more...Valuev was the man comming forward, using his jab to control the fight... haye is now the new WBA champ, and im happy for him..
But he got to show some guts when he´s fighting a championsship fight!!
IF it would have been a draw i wouldn´t haved complained...
hopefully the next fight Haye can show us his potential...He didn´t do that last night.. i waas a little bit disaponted...

That could be a very interesting fight. Ruiz is a guy who is very hard to finish. Despite his loss all those years back to Tua he does have a very good beard. Ruiz though is relentless and would be in Davids grill all night. David could certainly outbox him but that remains to be seen as David stamina wise im not convinced at all. He's always been a front runner and i dont see that changing despite last nights performance.

think that haye will beat ruiz but he still will still have not beaten 1 guy in the top 10 so this wba belt is real crap
thought that haye wanted to clean the division in sensationnal fashion if that means beating valuev and ruiz well thats not a lot is it

also he has always said that klitschkos were dead boring

i still wonder how i managed to hold until the last round of the crap fight i saw yday

cant wait for pacquiao/cotto that will make a change

Of course not. Valuev shouldn't even have had the WBA title to begin with.

I agree to an extent BUT he couldnt really do a lot more other than maybe throw a few more shots. His gameplan although boring was the way to beat valev..trading with himwould have been suicidal!
Add to the fact he has a suspected broken right hand as of the 2nd round.. i think he did pretty well!
But these tactics are not his usual style of fighting, well see that against Ruiz.

i did´nt knew about that right hand before now!! If that´s the case then i understand it..
i surely understand the gameplan, that he should counter and not get hit himself.
i just hoped for some more action i guess...But i know david Haye haven´t showed his full potential as a heavyweight..
Thanks for you info about the injury:good

I agree Wlad can be considered the true WBA champ as he beat the man that beat Valuev. However the fact that Chagaev was inactive for so long does bring into question whether someone should be allowed to hold a belt without defending it within 12 mths. Still the WBA did make Chagaev the champion in recess, but I think on the condition that when he returned he would have to fight Valuev again which he didn't so they stripped him of the title. Hopefully that makes sense and clears it up.

To answer your original question i think yes Haye's WBA title is as worthy the others.

Also I wish to add that I am disappointed that Wlad did not choose to take Povetkin over Chambers as Povetkin has been waiting so long now and the man he beat gets the chance ahead of him. If you are going to have different governing bodies the fighters that win the titles should try to accomodate their rulings in order to keep the belts.

He got it by running for 11 rounds, that automatically makes him a joke belt holder.

Possibly. I had him winning. But that isn't the question here.

Is the WBA a joke? Yes. People have been saying that for a long time. With their multiple versions of each title belt, and their awful, awful situation in the Heavy division, there has been a lot to complain about. They are just a sad, bad, sick joke. Transparently money hungry and corruptible.

Which isn't to say that the other major belts are a lot better. They are better, but they also show signs of the same sort of attitude/approach which makes the WBA so ridiculous.

IMHO the Ring belt is the only one that really matters - and even that isn't perfect. Just the best of a bad lot.

Right now the order of credibility is like so:

    1) Ring

    2) WBC; IBF

    3) WBA; IBO; WBO

I know that there a lot of Haye fans who are either delusional, new to the forums or new to the sport (or all three). They will believe that failing to credit the WBA as being the best belt is trying to deride his achievements. But a read over these forums will show that a lot of people have felt the WBA to be lacking in any credibility since before Haye moved up from cruiser.

its the oldest title out there out of all of them the WBA title, ask yourself this if you won that title would you honestly say your not a champion? Dont expect anybody to feel that way when they have won a title.
