Agreed with everything exept Lesnar's size being irrelevant. If Lesnar doesnt carry about 50-60 pounds over Couture he gets mauled he doesnt secure that takedown in round 1, and although he held onto the cage 3 times Couture and Lesnar within 20 pounds of each other Couture drops him on his back. Also I dont believe that KO punch has the same kind of impact on Couture that it did but thats just me.

In the Mir rematch Brock basically just layed his extra weight into Mir, pinned him agianst the fence and battered him agian if this guy isnt coming in at 280 I think Mir can actually move his hips and attack for sweeps or submissions or create a scramble.

That said none of it would have any effect on Fedor like you point out because Fedor has the best hips in the game, has ****** strength of his own and has better technique then Lesnar. Lesnar struggling with Couture wrestling wise was a result of Randy having superb technique.

I think Fedor if he doesnt put Brock to sleep (remember Frank Mir had Brock moving backwards in the rematch and maybe would have did more damage if he didnt fall to his back on a jumping knee attempt) would totally grapple **** Lesnar on the ground and it would be similar to a Fedor-Coleman type of deal.

Even if there is no Brock, Dana will always hype up another fighter I'm sure... and people will think he can beat Fedor. Remember when Coulture was hype up? Man I swear, some people actually thought Coulture would be competitive with Fedor.

And why couldnt a say 2007 Randy Couture possibly be competitve ? If Couture wants a takedown he will almost always get it and Randy loves his short elbows which are basically just for cuts and we know Fedor bleeds if you look at him. Its a crappy as hell way to win but a Randy Couture cut win over Fedor is as likely as any other possible Fedor losing scenario out there in MMA.

It would be funny as hell if Fedor does finally lose again to yet another cut even though he was easily winning the fight.

You sicko :yep Loses on cuts are never funny. How would you like to have been Randy Couture in 04 losing to Vitor the way he did and having to listen to himself being introduced as the former Light Heavyweight Champion for 6 months until the 3rd fight happened :-(

    1) No, its not
    2) No, its not. he got leglocked by one of the best in the world at it, once. Then went on to nullify him totally. Mir's offensive guard is probably the only one in the HW division as good as Fedor's.
3)A fight he finished the champion inside of the distance proves he has no stamina; interesting theory.
    4) So because he wasn't 100% of the time (just 85% or so) ragdolling one of the best fighters in the world, who happens to be a specialist in upper body grappling, he isn't that strong?

Jesus ****, you're just as bad or worse than the idiots saying Fedor was exposed last night.

Yea, it sucks. But it's kinda cool that it's Fedor's only kryptonite.

i think fedor had issues with rogers strength and i think brock would pose the same issues BUT fedor always finds a way. i'm not sure if any heavyweight can stop fedor from finding the answer for TWENTY FIVE MINUTES!

let brock fight big nog, and i bet my house that big nog in shape will submit him. But Dana is clever, he won't give big nog a title match against brock, because he knows what will happen. so big nog will wait for long time

Brock is improving drastically, and right now I have him beating Big Nog.

The longer it takes the Fedor/Lesnar fight to be made the more I see it coming into Lesnar's favor. Right now I pick Fedor, but a year or so down the road I see Lesnar taking it.

I don't care if you say Brock was given the title fight to early or not, fact of the matter is he beat Couture in his 4th fight and the rematch with Mir in his 5th fight. The guy is a monster and a tough fight for anybody, and he is only becoming tougher after every fight.

  11. Fedor has faced far heavier, taller and stronger opponents.

As for Brocks wrestling skills being top knotch, this simply isnt good enough against Fedor. Fedor is a Judo, Sambo and Combat Sambo specialist with world championship belts several years running (in Combat Sambo). Fedor has faced up and won against two Olympic level (silver medal winner) athletes, including a silver medalist in Greco Roman wrestling.

3 if you include coleman, not a medal winner though.

  13. Hahaha your kidding me right? Brock isnt Fedor skilled on the ground. He is a very one dimentional GnP fighter.

Making Lesnar the favorite may be a stretch. I did go from doubt to favorite rather quickly there. I knew this thread would get the negativity revved against me. I do think that 4-1 in favor of Fedor would be nuts, or I would at least feel crazy for not betting on Lesnar at that rate. I think the odds are much closer to even now.

I am not saying Fedor is a loser on the ground. Fedor has a unique blend with his style. Fedor is tough, and has endurance. Fedor is has crazy accuracy, and is very explosive. Fedor is strong enough to be the bully against Nog, and adept enough from his back to submit Mark Coleman. Coleman is not easy to submit.

This is the first time we've seen Fedor in a cage. Rogers was being laughed off the forum by many a few days ago, and has no grappling credentials. What if Couture or Lesnar had Fedor up against the cage? It would be unfair to Fedor to say he will automatically lose because of this, but it would be crazy not to wonder what kind of success these guys could have there.

I've also never seen footage that proves Fedor is just as good as Mir, Nog, or Werdum from his back. Fedor has never had to be. I personally think Werdum is better than all those guys in terms of pure grappling, but we all know that doesn't guarantee mma succuss.

I also may be giving too much to Lesnar's domination of Mir the second time. I has someone with far more grappling knowledge than myself explain how Mir was using a type of judo guard against Lesnar in an attempt to stall him and get the fight stood up, and wear Lesnar down. He explained that the guard Mir was using only works if you over/under hook both arms. He said that the guard does not allow you to use your hips, and Mir should have abandoned it when he was unable to secure Lesnar's arm.

I am not sure that picking Lesnar to win against Carwin, but I still think his odds against Fedor are a lot closer to even than they were a few months ago.

I think people are getting a bit carried away when it comes to Lesnar. He's still largely untested. I have doubts about him and i am still not sure that he will be able to handle a fighter who puts pressure on him and lands good punches. I don't think a wins over Mir, Herring and a 46 year old Couture is enough to justify his ranking. I'm looking forward to Lesnars fight with Carwin and a win and good performance against him will go a long way to convincing people he is the real deal.
IMO, Barnett and Overeem will be much bigger challenges for Fedor. I think Barnett as been a top level fighter for a long time and has a good all-round game and Overroid as turned into a beast with real KO power and could be the only fighter around with the power, speed and clean striking to counter fedors big looping punches....
