I agree that he'd decision JMM, though I think JMM might have edged their actual fight. If Barrera hadn't let his daft/spiteful side come out in the 7th round, well......

Nelson, hmm.....you'd have to give Azumah an edge, but you never know.

Saldivar.....nah, he's just better in every department and beat better opposition in Winstone x3, Ramos, Famechon, Laguna, Legra, Seki, Baby Luis etc. Not to denigrate Marco's opposition; his record at feather is excellent: Morales x2, Hamed, Tapia, McKinney, Kelley, Ayala, Salud etc. I also think that he didn't disgrace himself against Pac in the rematch, first fight considered. But it's precisely that result that worries me about him facing Saldivar. For all Pacquiao's ability, he was crude to say the least at 126 and he wasn't Saldivar by any stretch.

I'd like to think Barrera does himself justice though against anyone.

Considering only fighters I've seen a decent amount of footage of, I'd say:

Probably Shozo Saijo or Juan Manuel Marquez.

However, I'd give give him a pretty much even money chance at beating a lot of good featherweights (Johnny Famechon, Sugar Ramos, Jose Legra, Danny Lopez, Erik Morales maybe even Eusebio Pedroza).

certainly not : pacquiao , junior jones.
who else not : sanchez , henry armstrong.
so barerra is bounded by #5 (or below) at 126.
i bet the most will agree that arguello will also beat barerra.
so , no more than #5 even if junior jones is somehow below him.
reminder : jones stopped him once and outpointed him the other time.
and barerra , morales and marquez are all too close in level to each other.

    1. It annoyed me the ref didnt call the KD and docked MAB a point, BTW whether you had Barrera winning or losing, you have to admit the fix was in with a 118-110 scorecard from 1 of judges, disgraceful, Golden Boy must have though JMM was their ticket to a Pacquaio fight

    2. Nelson is a beast of a man, but MAB is the much better technical boxer and much faster for me with better movement, I fancy him to outbox Nelson

    3. Like I say I find Barrera/Salvidar very very similar in allot of ways, many of the same techniques, hell they could be the same man they are that close in style. I see MABs height/reach giving him the edge if they fought. The Pacquaio fights were all wrong for MAB, Pac may not be refinned but hes a once in a lifetime force of nature

Saldivar has that brutal, extremely accurate straight left though, the same kind of shot that pac used to great effect, except he's far more educated with it than that Manny was.Barrera having no answer to it would be a massive problem for him against Saldivar.

I think it would likely be a great fight, with Marco doing well early against the slower starting Saldivar, before being worn down and backed up as it goes on.

I think Barrera could defeat the featherweight version of Wilfredo Gomez. At Jr. Feather. it's a different story...

I agree that this one is a very very good fight, i'm actually on the fence but possibly i have to side with you on Saldivar doing the better work as the fight goes on.

Also, it's a;ways difficult when assessing Pedroza, but when you think about his head to head capabilities as a featherweight titlist, then he might beat MAB. Again, on their repsective best nights, very close.

It was just Doug Tucker, possibly the worst judge of all time.

I disagree on Olivaes as surely were using the best of them or Barrera could beat any Featherweight great on there bad day.

I think Olivares has abit too much of everything for him when hes in the middle of a battle Olivares was brutal and i think hit harder.

I think Famechon beats Barrera also.

Pep could hit enough just not a huge hitter he could hit fairly well especially to the body IMO.

I also think Pep has the speed, skills and elusiveness to outbox Barrera without getting his respect. Speed bothered Barrera abit and Pep was quick and very elusive. Not a good match up IMO for MAB
