1 - it is. Couture proved it. not to mention , it's not to his advantage since his stamina is more than questionable. The only guy who forced lesnar to work his ass off for the win was couture...and predictably...he was visibly gassed , and of course , his strength is overrated , here again couture proved it. UNLESS of course , old Randy's strength is unreal....Which i doubt , since he was dominated by Randleman in his prime in the wrestling department (but Kevin still lost because Randy was more endurant & kevin was winded ) 2 - Mir is overrated. What lesnar did in the rematch was already done by a much smaller opponent named Ian Freeman. Of course that was in 2002 , so maybe it's a bit unfair to hold that one against him , however , in 2006 he also lost to Brandon Vera in less than 2 minutes. I'd also add that Mir's best victory on his fighting record is against a past prime Nogueira. (past prime , not to mention the fact that he wasn't at 100% that night). Do we even need to bother mention his fight against Marcio Cruz ? Mir has and always will be a poor man's version of Nogueira. Prime for prime , there's no comparisons. 3 - He finished him in the 2nd round , i've seen this fight 3 times , and before the tko landed , lesnar was clearly winded. It's a damn shame because couture was doing surprisingly good. Before that fight ever took place , i thought he was gonna get crushed , but it certainly wasn't the case. (before he got caught)....Couture , who's older & smaller , was doing just fine each time he had to match his power against lesnar's. 4 - I maintain , Lesnar is overrated...as hell. It's quite sad. Like i said earlier.. Dana is a ****ing genius because when fans have absurd discussions about how lesnar would do against the likes of Karelin or Fedor...You know he's not ****ing around. He's one of the best fight promoter in years...
From my perspective , you're totally deluded. You buy into the lesnar hype. I don't. I can't. We're talking about a 4-1 guy... who originally , should've won his first fight against Mir. (but didn't because the ref intervened in time & gave enough time & advantage to Mir to slap a submission). As green as Lesnar was , it seriously was no surprise to see him own Mir in the rematch. He should've done so the first time. Mir panics whenever he's overwhelmed on the ground...Again , it happened with ian Freeman (who's way smaller than Lesnar). As solid as Mir's ground game is , he has mediocre stamina & loses control of the situation each time he's confronted to an aggressive wrestler. (Freeman , Lesnar)....Of course , no problems subbing the likes of Tank Abbott , Antoni Hardonk (striker) , Pete williams , Traven etc... Compare that to Nogueira in his prime. Look what Nogueira had to endure in 2003 against Emelianenko. Do you honestly believe he would've been able to handle that much punishment ? UFC's hw division is also extremely poor on the bjj side. The only two legit bjj artists they currently have are Nogueira & Mir. Last year they also had Werdum. There's also maybe Gonzaga. (but this guy is overrated too , he's good but overrated). When you look at the bigger picture , the ufc hd division is mostly quantity over quality. I'm not saying it's just pure hype....But i'm not buying the "infinitely superior" org that some fighter avoids because he's scared of losing...
I'd also like to add... Sure strikeforce's HW division is quite ****ing thin. But if you ask me , they happen to own "the" champion (and GOAT) of this sport. Lesnar's 4-1 vs Fedor's 31-1...atsch It only took Lesnar 3 fights in the UFC for the fans to proclaim that he'd own Fedor :-( His domination over Herring....Been there , done that. Emelianenko did it better years ago and proved that he even hits harder than Lesnar. (just like the smaller couture proved that Lesnar isn't the next Karelin or Pudzianowski in the strength department). Oh yeah , lesnar is pretty ****ing big..But P4P ? if you ask me , i find the likes of Couture , Randleman , Fedor , gsp , Coleman , Sherk to be more impressive.(strength wise) And i certainly do not believe that Lesnar is the strongest in the sport right now (especially after what happened against Couture). To his credit , Lesnar is very athletic , agile & has solid wrestling. He did great against Herring & Mir...he did ok against couture (before the tko) but i'm in no way impressed like the majority of the fans. I'm not trying to be different for the sake of it. I just don't see it. His rematch against Mir was no indication of how good his sub defense was. (not when you got a guy like Mir...sorry , legit sub artist yes..but can't handle punishment and panics too fast ) Maybe (probably ), i'd have a different opinion if the freeman/vera incident never happened. Maybe i'd be singing a different tune If Lesnar's domination over Herring would put to shame what Fedor did to the guy in his prime....Maybe i'd be impressed if the smaller & older Randy would've gotten tossed left & right like a ragdoll.... But it never happened....In the face of adversity , a guy like emelianenko doesn't react like herring or Mir...he doesn't panic. And the saddest thing of all , if Carwin beats Lesnar , we'll next have hordes of morons telling us that Emelianenko is avoiding him etc...etc..
Lesnar is very one dimensional, but that one dimension works. He dominated Mir and Herring. He did not dominate Couture however....Nog did though. Nog controlled Randy on the ground better then Lesnar did, that should shake up the Lesnar hype a bit and arise some questions. Why couldn't Lesnar manhandle Randy, given he had 40 pounds on him and he is a freak of nature??? Mir has been disgustingly overrated and Herring is a gate keeper, he is supposed to lose.
Fedor would have Lesnar's back before he knew he was even there. Heres how the fight goes. Lesnar shoots Fedor pulls guard > armbar in under a minute. Everyone goes home hype over.
Off the back of 5 performances in MMA is way too soon to say that dimension works well. If this was a prime Mark Kerr or Mark Coleman then yes. But Lesnar? No way. Id put my money on a prime Kerr giving Fedor way more problems than a rookie like Lesnar. The Lesnar hype is just that.. hype.
FEDORS fight on saturday proved how good fedor is. he was great in every situation. brock lesnar is dead meat
Well it worked great against Herring and Mir. I made it very clear that the fact that it did not work against Couture should raise alot of skepticism about whether he can deal with Fedor.
My question is this - do any of you UFC huggers think that Lesnar could take that one punch Fedor threw? Lesnar was rocked by Mir and Randy. It would definitely be an interesting fight, but I see Fedor knocking him out in the same manner he did Rogers.
It has changed in favor of Brock. Recently MMA has witnessed the same thing Boxing has, that being the introduction of extremely large athletes who have great speed and agility. Bret Rogers who has only had 10 fights and who is someone who came to the sport late was able to give Fedor a tough fight. He was able to reverse Fedor off his back which pretty much no one has done in the past. Lesnar is very similar to Rogers and can pose those same problems Rogers did, so it has definitely changed the odds slightly. I personally would still pick Fedor over Lesnar, but wouldn't be surprised if Lesnar won.
So name 5 ****ing heavys who aren't overrated? Mir was a champ, Randy was a champ, seriously, name 5 goddamn fighters outsidenof Fedor not overrated; better yet name 5 better than Mir, Randy, Nog, Gonzaga. Name them. Everybody but Fedor is overrated, as always, right?
Yes that one dimensional wrestling was what knocked out one elite fighter, knocked down another, and knocked down a sturdy journeyman. One dimensional, what the **** is wrong with you idiots? Honestly what serious mental problem do you have? Lead paint eaters? Autistics? I really want to ****ing know what has made you all so goddamn stupid.
I would make Fedor the favorite. If fedor lands one of those bombs I don't know if Brock could withstand it. Brock would have a good chance on the ground with his power and wrestling but Fedor could get a sneaky submission. Brock would have to grind this one out and smother Fedor with G&P
Interesting fight. Would be interesting to see whether or not Lesnar could get the fight to the ground and put Fedor into a bad position. If Lesnar can do that then he can easily stop the fight with GNP. But would he be able to get it to the ground quick enough
