First off, let me give props to Angulo. I thought he fought hard against Cintron, and just came up short. To his credit, he seems to have come back from his loss more determined tha ever. However, this fight was a complete disgrace. For starters, it was for the WBO interim title. I don't even have much of a problem with the WBO stripping Williams without notification. However, how the hell does Angulo get to fight for the interim strap over Cintron when he recently lost to Cintron and when Cintron is the no. 1 contender?

Onto the fight, that ref is incompetant and Kellerman is a stooge. Angulo clearly ripped off a 3 punch combo in the second round when Yorgey was on the canvas(I believe one or two of the punches landed to the back of the head). The announcers tried to act like it didn't happen and the replay was even cut off before we could see the entire 3 piece combo that was landed when Yorgey was down. Kellerman made it worse by saying that Yorgey's corner was complaining that Yorgey was hit when he was "essentially" down. Steward thankfully corrected him by saying that Yorgey was definately down. The ref continued to disgrace himself by allowing Yorgey to continue fighting after Angulo knocked him sensless again and Yorgey proceeded to stumble all over the place and was holding on for dear life. I guess the ref wanted to see Yorgey get knocked out cold. Eventually that's what happened as Angulo knocked Yorgey out cold and landed another punch for good measure while Yorgey was goind down but was clearly unconcious. Disgraceful performance by the ref and Kellerman.

Take nothing away from Angulo because he did his part as the boxer, but the ref. did a horrible job of officiating.

I agree with your overall post!:good

Jack Loew had right to complain. Yorgey got cuker punched when he was down. I am not going to go as far as "the fix was in", but you know HBO has money invested in Angulo's future.

You ever see Roy Jones vs. Montell Griffin I? Angulo pulled a similar stunt in this fight. The ref did nothing, and the announcers tried to act like it didn't happen.

I'll just put it this way: If Humberto Soto-Lorenzo was declared a disqualification, there's no way this shouldn't have been.

Inconsistency in calls like that is a big, big issue for me. Yorgey was never going to be a world-beater, but it's not fair that career altering punches like that can land because the ref wasn't doing his job. Disgraceful is right.

Between that and their call of the Dawson fight, anybody watching a fight that night for the first time without knowing the fighters would easily be able to tell who had HBO's backing and who didn't.

I almost wish they just had pro wrestling announcers call the fights. Check that, I think I'd vastly prefer pro wrestling announcers calling them.

my favorite part was when kellerman kept calling chad dawson ,chad dawson. they corrected him then someone else started calling him that. uilove it they should fire kellerman because he keeps giving horrible performances.

the hbo anounce team does need a dressing down, that was ****ing aweful. i like angulo, but that ref seemed to like him more. clearly a fowl, and one where a guy could get seriously hurt. remember when kellerman was all about changing boxing so it was all objective, and unbaised? i guess espn didn't sensor him. or he gets enough cash at hbo to back there boy no matter what. yorgi was really in a bad spot to get a win, i feel you hj.

If we're going to point fingers, what about Yorgey's corner? Couldn't they have stopped it after 2? There was a time when Yorgey was out on his feet in the 2nd.
