Amongst all the hysterical reaction to Hayes narrow victory at the weekend Ive been particularly amused by the increasingly unrealistic fighters who would definitely beat Haye threads. e.g. Tua KO1 Chambers 120-108 Arreola KO2 Ruiz late stoppage Random European prospect by KO Hopkins . Pacquiao .. Calderon .. Amongst all this bull Im curious about Adamek in particular. I wonder what possible incentive Haye would have to fight him. He obviously isnt the best fighter in the division so Haye would gain nothing from beating him in terms of improving his standing in the division. He is virtually unknown in UK so theres no financial gain in fighting him with respect to PPV. There is no reason to fight him except for forum posts popping up daily. These as expected are full of keen boxing fans. Who as surely the biggest dope has worked out by now have little influence on which big fights are made. Even though the fight is very unlikely to happen we can look forward to a million more posts about adamek with his theoretical certain victory becoming increasingly decisive. Surely Adamek fans should talk about fights that might actually happen in the near future, after 1 or 2 impressive victories he will be an obvious and inevitable challenger to all champions given how shallow the talent pool is at heavyweight. If Im missing something about Adamek please educate me.
Adameks last fight drew 8 Million viewers.... Haye drew about 1 million more vs. Valuev. Those are not virtually unknown numbers, Adamek is pretty big in the NY/NJ Area and a star in Poland. This fight would bound to bring some numbers from both Poland and the UK. Who cares if the UK has "never heard" of Adamek, who the **** in Poland, sides the hardcore boxing fans like us, know who David Haye is? Go up to some kid in Warsaw and ask him who Krzystof Wlodarczyk is, he will know for sure. Ask him who David Haye is, its like, who? But now that he has a belt im sure he will get more and more recognition by more people worldwide not just in E. Europe. Adamek doesn't need UK fans, he has his own as does Haye. But still... Adamek is still progressing in the HW division so a fight like this wont be appealing unless its in about 1 year or so when Adamek has a few move wins on his HW campagin/until hes ready for a shot. That is, if haye even has the belt next year.
Yeah I dont see any reason that Haye should fight Adamek.........Except for the fact that it would be a great fight. Two highly skilled small heavies that shouldnt be at heavy. Its the best fight for either guy. Both need to be careful with who they fight, as I think that any heavyweight in the top 25 could beat them at any time. However with the high skill level of both I also wouldnt be shocked it they beat any heavyweight. None the less this is a great fight, that should be enough reason for them to fight.
Adamek doesn't need UK fans, he has his own as does Haye. I wasnt suggesting he needed UK fans. Haye needs PPV numbers in uk as thats where his money comes from. Haye needs his opponent to be known by UK fans. As the fight would be voluntary there is no incentive to fight him. That was my point.
Poland. Free. BTW its only 8 million TV SETS.The people were around 13 million watching.. when you count all the bars, clubs etc.. showing this fight. Thats a really good number for a nation of 39 million.
There is no logical reason for the fight to happen which is why it won't happen. I think you pretty much covered it, it has no relevance to the heavyweight division and although it would do well financially probably no more so than other fights. It's just us as boxing fans getting excited, on paper its quite an attractive fight given the styles, both men came from cruiser where they did well, there are a few obvious comparisons there. But it won't happen until Adamek builds himself up.
Nothing planned yet but Adamek said he wants to fight by February / March. There were talks of Sosnowski calling him out, but Adamek responded with "I want to go up the ladder, not down it" Hes looking for a Ray Austin caliber opponent it seems that will boost his rankings better. He also said a fight with Wlodarczyk at CW is uninteresting. Search for a opponent continues.... He has some time tho.. .being he said he wants to fight in February or early March
As explosive as this fight would be (assuming Haye doesn't pull a Valuev), this fight is NOT happening until both fighters get their turn to ride, on the Klitschko gravy train.
It would be a great fight as long as it lasted. I think Adamek's too small, personally. Not by much, but just enough. However, Adamek does have sneaky speed and real power. If Haye got sloppy, he would be gone fast.
