As "Firepower" draws near I'm getting more and more anxious for this fight. Really sucks about the undercard, but that's another thread. Reason I'm writing this post is simple. The clear fan favorite opponent for Manny is Floyd, pending a win-and vice versa. There will be bickering, debating, insults, photoshopped pics, you name it, all surrounding this potential match-up. One topic of debate I'm sure will come up numerous times (as it already has) is size. Is Floyd to big for Manny?

But then I got to thinking, who punches harder out of the two. Hypothetically, if they did fight could Manny potentially hurt Floyd?

Based on common opponents I would have to vote that I feel that Manny can punch harder than Floyd, and can hurt him. Notice I didn't say he could beat him, only punch harder. That said, I'm not saying he can't beat him either. Anyways, the reason I come to this conclusion is the 3 common opponents.

Oscar: Floyd, SD win; Manny TKO end of RD8- 0 Knockdowns for both. However, in the Manny fight DLH was cowering and cringing; the man couldn't even return fire it got so bad. He also was rocked a couple of times in that fight. I don't recall Oscar being rocked at all in the Floyd bout.

Hatton: Floyd, KO RD 10; Manny Prison Raping RD 2- Floyd 2 KD's, Manny 3 KD's. Not much to say here; if you read the thread you've seen the fights. Manny was awesome this past May.

Marquez: Floyd UD 12; Manny Draw 12, and SD 12- Floyd 0 KD's, Manny 4 KD's. Just the fact that Manny floored Marquez 4x to 0, @ a lighter weightclass, indicates more overall power in his punches upon impact. Floyd tagged Marquez flush all night and didn't drop him once. He slightly rocked him a few times though.

I have taken into consideration that Floyd primarily throws his punches from a defensive posture, and Manny commits a bit more when he throws. However, reasoning and outcome are two different things. Meaning: I know Floyd has pops, but he throws just hard enough that he's not off balance and NEVER in danger of being countered-whereas Manny is willing to try and take your head off with a punch when he throws, still mindful of defense hopefully, but still willing to take that risk. Therefore, regardless of why, the end result is Manny punches harder. Thoughts?

Floyd dropped Marquez in the second round of their fight, though I do think Manny is the harder puncher of the two but not sure if he'd be the stronger at 145/6/7 or whatever weight they fought at seeing as Floyd has been weighing and fighting around that for the past few years.

I would say Pac simply because he commits to his punches. He really lets it go.

I voted Pacquiao stricly on style....but IMHO its almost even when floyd comes out of his shell and rarely goes offensive first, just watch floyd-ndou....floyd brawled in round 7.....I give pacquiao the edge, but its closer then you think...

Pac, floyd doesnt commit both because he is defensive minded and he has had hand problems for years. I do remember him wearing reyes gloves for the Hatton fight which was strange, maybe his hands felt good that night and he wanted a KO.

I dont think Pac's power is that strong, its more his speed and explossiveness. PBF use to have it, I imagine he would stop JMM rather easily at 135.

AT 147 its tough to say. Floyd is stronger but Pac's punching technique is better.

It's not even my opinion, it's a FACT Manny hits harder.
