Ivans Calderon's take on Cotto-Pacquiao

Calderon is my fav pnd for pnd runner.

 

Agree with his analysis 100% only thing is its so much easier to find holes in Pacs game on video using slow mo. Real time, you'll need impeccable timing and Pacs pretty accurate with his punches, hes not just flailing away.

 

Calderon is 100% correct... about the old Manny Pacquiao. The new version is a totally different beast, much more calculated and less reckless. Same speed and more power though. Better defense too.

 

True, though this is why JMM got the best Pacquiao. The only problem is JMM was hurt in return and didnt do enough of what he needed to do. I don't think Pacquiao will have the same success in hurting Cotto as he did the smaller fighters in his previous weight classes. He could hardly hurt a walking corpse in De La Hoya.

 

Well cotto ain't as skilled and fast as JMM though...

 

Of course the no. 1 runner in the world will have to favor his fellow puerto rican. Pac hurt Hoya badly, he wouldnt have quit if he wasnt hurt. And Cotto doesnt have the tough chin that Hoya has. Well see, this saturday.

i dont know about speed, but Cotto is NO JMM when it comes to Boxing Skills.

 

Cotto is a way better fighter than Pac.Pac just happens to be going trough a point in his career where he has beat past their prime great fighters and the dedia has blinded the boxing fans who think they know bout boxing. but we will find out on SAT..

 

Of course he will say that, don't expect him to say what he really feels without getting boo's from his countrymen, that's how it goes. Didn't nearly everone in England say that Hatton would knock Pac out cold?, nearly everyone they interviewed over there said that. The ones who didn't, Calzaghe being one of them, was insulted by everyone for saying it's 50/50 or more of an advantage for Pac based on style and so on. Calzaghe was also insulted by even some of his fans when he openly picked Mayweather over Hatton.

Don't expect Calderon to **** on his stock among his countrymen for being honest about a prediction.

 

You must be pretending blind if you didn't see them. Did you see him throw recklessly in the last 3 fights? He was all so cautious in the DeLaHoya fight, he wasn't thinking of a knockout until Pac's corner saw that it was time to go for it. Pacman was instructed to knock Oscar out but Pacman couldn't knock him out. You know why? Oscar quit on his stool. In the Hatton Fight, Pacman intended to do the same, fight smart but Hatton asked for it, he tried to overpower Pacman, but didn't know Pacman is also a good counterpuncher. That was some excellently timed counterpunch that put Hatton to sleep. Is that what you call reckless?

 

If what you mean by "better" is bigger and stronger then yes he is.

if pac is exactly the same size as cotto i'll bet my house that he'll KO cotto in round 1.
