Lewis was clearly outboxed before the cut. He got lucky.

this was one of those fights where Lewis didn't bring the A-game, like in the first Rahman fight.

Yes, if it wasn't for the cut, I think Vitali probably would have won, however a motivated Lewis would have won the rematch - Lennox was always up for a rematch and he would have got his revenge.

What this makes Haye is irrelevant to this thread.

I said that I consider Vitali a fringe top 20 heavyweight - that's higher than guys such as Frank Bruno, Henry Cooper, Oliver McCall and so on.

Haye hasn't done much yet to be considered alongside the likes of those - first he has to get Ruiz out of the way, then we will see where he goes.

PatrickP - I am sorry you find my comments ''ridiculous''. However - when you are the guy that jumps like a two year old child over British posters..... in your words ''claiming'' Irish fighters that have fought for a British title, then you have little room to criticise me.

    Grow up first, eh :hi:

Nobody really cares whether a guy who is from Northern Ireland classes himself as Irish or British. We are here to discuss boxing - not politics. Leave that for the lounge.

I think a better question is would Klitschko have won the fight if he hadn't gotten cut at all. A cut like that changes a fight. Gives the guy with the cut an extra soft spot to worry about and his opponent a nice juicy target.

Maybe. To me it looked like both of these guys were ready to go. Lewis was exhausted and neither of these guys could continue to take bombs the way they were.

This fight has real re-watchability and intrigue to me, I really loved it. But if there had been no cut...and the fight had continued, I'd pick Lewis to finish the job in around the 10th. I think Lewis had just woken up to the size of the task in front of him, and maybe Vitali was a little disheartened that Lewis had taken some of his best.

This is without doubt the last great fight between 2 top HW's.

The last 2 threads I've been in you've abused Lennox and Haye....it's obvious your posts are totally biased, and that's coming from an American!!!

You were in another thread defending Adamek, yet you don't seem to keen on him "setting the record straight" with Cunningham who outboxed him for 3/4 of their fight do you!?!?!

Just make an unobjective post and respect other people's opinions!! And...if it's getting repetetive, don't bother posting you joker!!!

Vitali fought an Old out of shape Lewis and he still got beat. Vitali wouldn't have stood a chance against a prime Lewis IMO

Vitali was on his way to being stopped. He was almost lucky he got the cut since it saved his reputation and now he might someday surpass Lennox as a great heavyweight champ.

If Lennox was confident to win the rematch he would have taken it for sure. However he was afraid about the possibility of losing the belts so he decided to retire instead. I think if it wasn't Vitali he wouldn't have retired at this point of his career. Lennox won the fight fair and square and I thought at the time the ref made a good call, but claiming Vitali had no chance of winning this or the rematch is plainly stupid.

And if you exclude all fanboys' and haters' votes then the poll would go to Vitali's favour. :D

Lewis was out of shape in this fight and still smashed his face up...
