That fight proved that Margarito was a strong welterweight and really too big for Cotto in the end. But Cotto is the greater fighter. That was not an outclassing since Cotto lasted long enough. Margarito just overwhelmed the smaller guy. I pick Pacman to stop Cotto on cuts midround.
Many people put the blame on Cotto after the fight. Thing have changed since Margarito has been caught. Like it or not.
We all got to be tired of this plaster ****. Regardless to whether he did or didn't - Cotto's punches had no effect on Margarito. Unless Margarito had plaster in his face to take the punches and walk through them - or unless you have evidence that he had plaster in his wraps for the Cotto fight - let it go. Cotto lost a good fight and he's moved past it - why haven't the rest of you?
that is biased hog wash, the point is not to knock margarito out, its to win on points, yes, they do that too. just because you wanted to test miguel by how hard he hits does not mean anything to everybody esle.
thats bull****, Cotto could do what Mosley did, but instead somebody hoaxed miguel into being a warrior and throwing out his boxing skills knowing how big this fight was
regardless or AM cheating, and whatnot. which is the worst thing a boxer can do and i life long ban should be in place for. thats how people get killed. you cant take away the fact that he took some damn shots from cotto and kept coming. plaster didnt help his chin absorb the bombs cotto was hitting him with in the early rounds. but margarito is still a scumbag....just a scumbag that had a good chin
Mosley is stronger than Cotto physically it seems. It was interesting how stylewise Mosley did what Cotto couldn't. I think Mosley being stronger with fast hands is why Pacman's people didn't want him to fight Shane.
Honestly, loaded gloves or not, Cotto did not look at his best against Margarito. Remember the warm-up fight pre-Margarito, post-Mosley, was against Alfonzo Gomez - - and if you remember that fight, though it was a masacre of Gomez, I feel that Cotto looked undertrained and overly confident: he had his hands down a lot; he was blocking with one-hand. I really believe that Cotto came into the Margarito fight thinking he was unstoppable. Sure, Cotto had foot movement against Margarito, but he fought the fight the same way as he fought Shane - - and, though Shane is a master boxer, he is no where near the type of inside fighter Margarito is (note that Shane beat Margarito by staying away fromt he ropes); therefore, I still blame Cotto for not forcing the fight away from the ropes and into the middle of the ring: not working his jab, but working his left hook to the head. It's a great punch, but now that we've seen Shane put away Margarito with his right hook, we can estimate that Cotto is not as strong as Mosley, for Cotto was hitting Margarito just as much as Mosley with his so-called best punch. If I were Cotto, I'd think about this fact before going into Pacquiao - - think about boxing and not brawling; think about Ricardo Torres; think about Zab Judah: all other fighters who forced brawling to some effect (maybe not so much Judah) and took the early rounds as a result. Fortunately, Pacquiao puts pressure on his opponents, and occasionally he jumps inside, but he also fights from the outside, and he lunges - - so if Cotto is a counter-puncher, as he may seem to be (especially against Shane), than he should shine tomorrow as long as he doesn't get carried away with his knock-out power (and I hope the fight against Clottey reinforced this lesson).
Margarito tainted that fight its forever tarnished no matter how you look at the fight it self there is more reason to think he cheated than anything, Cotto damaged his ass in that fight the wars caught up to Tony in the end Mosley finished him off and exposed his cheating ass. IMO that should be a NC or a DQ in favor of Cotto, look at the pictures out there from that fight Margaritos wrap is clearly suspect....
Margarito should be banned for life. I hate him so much, I must have watched the end of the Mosley fight about 40 times. Cheating scumbag.
There is blatantly something not right about the fight. We will probably never know for sure if Margarito cheated against Cotto. However, for the first six rounds its clearly Cotto's fight. After the sixth, Margarito came on stronger than he had been in the first half of the fight. It was like Margarito's punches got harder as the fight went on or that he was punching with the same intensity/power as he was in the early rounds. Whichever way you look or view it, the fact Margarito got caught trying to load his gloves against Mosley, has & will tarnish his career forever, no matter what he possibly goes on to achieve, if he boxes again!
hahaha I love the last 2 rounds of that fight. I wish Mosley's gloves were loaded so he could go exactly through what he was doing.
dumb ass:-( got caught? He didn't get caught with one punch that changed the fight, he was getting hit all night to some degree and by round 5 it became apparent that he was in trouble. He didn't even phase Margo and Margo was starting to get to him. could Cotto have moved more, yes, he should have but after the wraps story broke and then I looked at Cotto during that fight there is no way Margo busts him up like that without cheating, period point blank.
