He has been a fat joke in last few yrs and yes the drugs thing too... but his career is deserving of HOF status surely. Look at his record up to 2000 say.. one of the top SM weights, up there with the best

he sure as **** wasn't calling out Toney when they were in the same weight class, and he sure as **** wasn't making any effort to make these fights happen outside of talking **** in an interview.

TBH James Toney in his prime is operating on another level to Calzaghe, Joe did not even want a part of Glen Johnson lol

They were close enough in weight that Joe could have made the fight happen. I think we ALL know what it means a fighter is content to stay in his own backyard and never set foot in America. Calzaghe knew something his fans still don't know. If he ever came to the US and starts fighting the best, he gets ****ed up.

You say he would get fukked up and while i agree he would most likely lose to the best Toney he would not get fukked up. Toney was renowned for having a shitty workrate and his philly shell would not be as effective against a left hander like Calzaghe, add the fact that Calzaghe has a good chin and sets a hot pace and he would definitely not get fukked up, albeit he probably would lose.

To the poster above Toney was robbed against Griffin i had 8 rounds to 4 for Toney.

Any fighter thats proven to have used steriods or PED's whilst still active should not be considered for Boxings Hall of Fame IMHO:deal
Cheeting is not a characteristic that should be associated with HOFers and is a terrible example to set kids and young boxers.:good

sorry, son. being one of the top shouldn't cut it for HOF.
HOF should be reserved for THE top. that would be calzaghe, unblemished.
making an exception for this thread. usually i'll only share my opinions about fighters who've officially retired as not to pass info too valuable. however, in this case i'l make the exception since calzaghe is retired and toney should be.

The only status Toney has is as an undisciplined fighter who kept getting his a*se kicked at heavyweight.
