seriously like...i'm not sure that if you think of hatton before the paquaio fight and square him off with cotto that there would be much between them

    thoughts ?

Cotto beats Hatton in every department.

He's more skilled, he's got better movement, he's stronger, he can probably take more punishment.

    Hatton was a good fighter.

    Cotto's a great fighter.

Pacman and Floyd are exceptional fighters.

Cotto stops him in 6 at this point.....hatton suffered 2 loses out of 47 fights and now he is getting underrated for his era, after being overrated after the tszyu win and the castillo KO.....

Hatton is too far gone now...has took too much punishment in and out of the ring....I always thought a prime hatton could hang with a 140 version of cotto and lose a close fight on the cards....

but now if it did happen....cotto gives hatton a slow but brutal beating, ending in 6....

  6. Cotto is better than Hatton in pretty much every way. The only things that Hatton is world class at are body punching and hitting and holding. Cotto seems to be pretty poor at holding judging by his fight with Margo, he just kept getting smashed. For ****s sake Miguel, tie him up and take a breather! Watch a Bernard Hopkins fight! But I digress, Cotto outboxes Hatton before bludgeoning him.

Cotto is a level above Hatton IMO, on a boxing level he can't be compared.

Cotto is bigger, has more power, faster, better footwork, combination punching & overall ability.

The one thing Ricky has is grit, aggression and bloody mindedness, unfortunately this was the thing that got him sparked both times.

I like Cotto and I think he is a very very good fighter, but to say he is great is stretching it a little. If he beats Pacman tonight he goes under great, but now I still think he comes up short.

Wow The Pac-Man Don't Look Much Smaller And He Is Just A Great All Round Fighter. I Dunno If I've Got The Heart To Bet Against Him Anymore After What He Has Done To Me Twice.

Cotto has better defensive skills than Hatton. He's generally a better boxer in terms of overall skillset

okay doug.ie, here are my thoughts: The real question should be; and I quote: Is Pacquiao a better welterweight than Carlos Quintana or Zab Judah.
I put a little spin on your question and asked the better question; because you see my friend Cotto is worlds ahead of Hatton, but don't know if Pacquiao is worlds ahead of Quitana.
Do you really see Pacquiao outboxing an even "not mentally ready" Paul Williams because I sure as hell don't!

Cotto has much more skill and a better gameplan. He would outbox and stop Hatton now but at light welter a few years ago it would have been an enthralling contest.

Lots better... always thought he was and always though he'd smash Hatton in either welterweight class.

For example, Cotto doesn't just lunge in like a fool from the outside. If he comes at you he'll stalk you down and get close before he unleashes his punches or use that excellent jab of his to work his way in. Hatton has no clue about either of those concepts.

Cotto also has beter defensive skills and knows how to throw shortter, less wide punches than Hatton does.

Cotto is also smarter choosing to switch it up at times from coming forwad and he'll move laterally or even turn southpaw in order to confuse his opponent.... etc., etc.... I could go on but just know that Hatton isn't quite as good as Miguel Cotto and he never will be.
