I am gutted for him as he comes across as a very nice bloke on here. Hopefully he'll make the right decision for himself. In fairness to him, he did lose to Choi (who no-one else wanted to fight) and was winning the Lindsay fight before he was caught so it isn't like he's being steamrolled in the fights he's losing. He was stopped on his feet yesterday as well.

I agree. Fact is his chin isn't good enough, He has gone up a weight which normally helps fighters punch resistance but it hasn't with him. Ok the Ramogoadi fight had a bizarre ending but he's now been on the receiving end of a beating from Choi and a devastating knockout loss to Lindsay and now last night he gets stop by a non punching lightweight. As someone said before...how he got to 20-0...well we all know it's because he was well promoted by the master of padded records..Mr Warren.

Sometimes we can right a fight off way to easy...but with regards to Derry i think he's losing heavily and i don't see much substance to him to say yeah he can rebuild....it's a long road back...he can be happy with his career he beat Foster Jnr and also he was beating Lindsay imo up and till the knockout...if he wants to continue he has to look at a lot of changes to his boxing and his camp. There's no doubting he has ability...just hard to see a road back for him.

I also think his punch resistance has gone, its rather that or he is just quitting every time he gets hit with a decent shot, either way he should retire.

To be honest he took on a very good domestic opponent last night. Lawton is a bigger guy who has mixed in good class. The fight was grea for the fans but probably a bit too big of a leap for Derry to come back with. Good luck to the guy on whatever he decides to do in the future.

i dont think his chin is THAT bad. but he doesnt move his head, and lawton only got the win by just steamrolling over him. overwhelmed i think is the better word. he was stunned by that lead right though.

but he has to rework himself. he is still a name and has decent support. he can get back into a domestic challenge i feel. does he want to though? like mandanda said it's a long road. especially in british boxing where you cant pad a record like other area due to the BBBofC retiring poor fighters, and he doesnt have the financial backing to import guys from europe....it will be tough but at least he is at rock bottom only way is up.

If Derry is to rebuild it has to be a long road.
No shortcuts and sticking him into a big fight too early just because it'll put him straight back up there.

I don't want to say he should be fed easy opposition and pad his record up completely to get back up there but he does need to drop the level of opposition quite a bit and work his way back up.

On his way back he needs to put huge emphasis on improving his defence, because he's a lovely skillful boxer and will outbox most guys out there but his chin is letting him down at times, so he's going to have to avoid taking the type of big shots that Choi, Lindsay and Lawton all managed to catch him with.

I don't think it's time to retire just yet, but if he's looking to get straight back in with someone the level of Lawton he may aswell do, because he'll get himself hurt. He needs time to get back to the drawing board and try and get everything right.

It probably is time to go,his career has just fallen apart since the Choi loss.I think he will probably have one more shot at it though.Good luck to the guy,he was going great up to the Choi fight, must be hard to go from wining to losing over and over.
