Ok ive heard the following stories :

De La Hoya was being fined 1 million $ for every pound he weighed over 147 in the ring not at the weigh in , in the ring !!!!

All of the above but just at the weigh in not in the ring .

DLH wanted to prove he could beat Pacquiao even though he was lighter than him in the ring !!!!

Can anybody clarify why he had the weight issues ?????

His usual weight 154 was where he looked good he had to cut 7 and go to a weight he had not been at in years then the only gained 2 pounds over nite he obviously was not healthy or properly rehydrated

147 was the contracted weight because Manny was scared to fight him at 154, which is a lot lower than his natural weight class.

DLH is a professional so he made the weight even if it mean coming in seriously dehydrated.

If they fought a at 154 I think DLH would have taken it and so does Manny thats why he insisted on a lower weight class so he could have an advantage of fighting someone who should be in hospital bed rather than fighting in a ring.

If they fought at 154, what honor does a big guy get when he bullies a little guy? You're right he's a professional. He's not like Floyd.

I read that he was eating a very low carb diet. He was probably sporting low glycogen reserves. You need glycogen (built mostly by carbs) for explosive power. I think when roach heard this he immediately pointed it out and stated this is the worst thing you can do nutritionally for a boxer.

This in addition to hydration and rapid weight loss issues.
