I've been amazed by the amount of boxing fans on this site who still find it hard to give Pacquiao credit. Before this fight and also the Hatton fight I picked Hatton and also Cotto to win both fights and I was proved wrong on both occasions amd there was so many people who picked both Cotto and Hatton to beat him or out power him but you must look at this simple fact. Not only has Pacquiao beat these bigger guys, He is stopping them and he is doing damage. Mayweather has never wanted to take the necessary risk to prove your theories correct about him being this so called modern day great that he seems to think he is We all know styles make fights but you must look at it in perspective, Pacquiao is stopping bigger guys, beating the fight out of them and coming out with minimal damage, now if that is not a great fighter then I dont know what is... I was a non believer before this fight but I have full respect for Pacquiao after he beat the **** out of Cotto, you can ask the question of could Mayweather have done the same but because he does not take the necessary risks to prove it and back up his talk then we would never find out so as true boxing fans we have to embrace Pacquiao and realise that we might not see a fighter like this again for a very long time. He has come into his own and has improved in every fight, he seems to now have alot more ring IQ and it shows. Every fighter makes mistakes, even Mayweather does but the fact is Pacquiao challenges himself each and everytime, can we say the same about the other guy who everybody seems to think will beat him. In my opinion Mayweather should fight Mosley and then the winner fight Pac, thats just my opinion because Mayweather has done nothing that can compare to what the smaller man just pulled off so why should he be given a free pass. Putting personal feelings aside, the fans obviously demand Pac vs Mayweather so I would imagine that this is the most logical fight despite my view so lets hope it happens. Too much blind hate on this forum and not enough appreciation...
:deal Great post! I especially like your point about Mayweather not proving that he deserves to be considered the best. After last night, Pacquiao is an obvious all time great, based on the fact that he has moved through 7 weight classes and beat the best along the way. As for all the Pacquiao haters...... you can hate him, but you have to respect the talent and what he's accomplished.
Pacquiao is a true beast and a boxing great. After seeing him against Hatton I knew Manny would be well adjusted to the welter division and I picked him to win, however Cotto was not drained, shot or anything like that. Pacquiao is an all time great fighter and deserves full credit for what he has accomlished in his career.
Pacquiao is so far ahead of Floyd right now in terms of resume and accomplishments it's absurd. I still pick floyd to beat him based on styles, but you know what? It doesn't matter -- Manny is the fighter of the decade and all-time great who consistently fights the best, and garners sensational wins against them.
I think that Pacquiao is overrated. I also think that he is an A+ fighter and one of the best in the sport. However a lot of people on here act like is a god or something, and thats whay I think that he is overrated. He beat a severly weight drained DLH, who was smaller than him. (Yes DLH smaller. DLH weighed 147 to Pac's 148 He beat a Hatton who had already been stopped by Floyd. But the win over cotto last night was an excellent win. He deserves all the credit. Pac showed his talent and skill. And a fight with mayweather would captivate the world and has to happen.
There will always be excuses for when Pac wins but I give him all the credit in the world for the performance he showed.
