Why would anyone abandon Cotto after a fight like the one last night?

He's still got plenty of fights left in him, and he's still a world-class welterweight. He lost to the best fighter on the planet, just like many others have! No shame in that, at all.

And I agree with booradley that he needs a different trainer. Santiago gave him NOTHING to work with last night.

    Sup fellaz.

He showed the heart of a true champion, even in crushing defeat to a better fighter.

    Cotto is far from finished.

I'm a very proud fan of Miguel Cotto, He's a class act and a throwback to old school fighters who just go in the ring with whoever they put in front of him. It was a great fight worth the $ paid to see it. Now I hope he seriously considers getting someone other than himself to run his training camp. Props to Pacquiao for the amazing performance against my fighter. COTTO FAN FOREVER!:bbb

No one should abandon those who take risks in a sport as brutal as boxing. Win or lose, the Pac-Cotto fight is what boxing's all about. I don't care about fantasy fights anymore. That was a reality combat event, man... I mean, it really happened, two great fighters slugged it out for 12 rounds (got stopped, but hey, can't have it all).

Cotto still has the fight in him. But last nights demonstrated that his focus lately is not working. He appeared over-confident and indestructible as he did vs Margarito. I mean round 1 was beautiful, he looked great. But after winning a good round and teeing off on Pacquiao jus made him forget WHO he was in the ring with and then BAM once Pacquiao responded - it was lights out for Cotto. He looked hesitant and unconfident in what he was doing after that.

Pacquiao is just a machine in every way. His speed was scary, his taunting was horrific and his mental state was unbelievable. Boy were ya'll were right who were saying Pacquiao is a great finisher. It only took a few seconds for Cotto to make a mistake and Pacquiao didn't let it slide.

I really do think Cotto needs a different trainer or his uncle back if he wants to continue fighting at this level. Not at all saying this is anything to do with him losing this fight but he needs someone to guide him through the fight and keep him calm and collective. He looked lost and needed to be told what to do but he recieved no answer, instead of looking for ways to win mid rounds, he was looking for a way to survive.
