First things first. You can never go wrong with this match-up. I don't know if it will be a fight of the year but I'm sure it will provide enough fireworks to last till the new year. The two fighters: There's no pretense on Pac. You know that he'll be doing his job. Moving in and out. Try to land a volley of powershots then be out on his bike before the opponent even knows what happened. You can't mention his weaknesses as an intangible beacuse he has been flawless for three fights in a row. But the point made that Pac has never been hit cleanly by a natural welter is a valid argument. So knows how he will react when Cotto does. Cotto on the other hand is a highly skilled boxer with legit power. The best part is he is still young and in his physical prime. The only knack on him is whether the Margo fight really damaged his psyche. His chin seems to be vulnerable, but he has displayed superb recuperative power the way JMM does. What to expect: Expect Cotto to be in top shape both physically and mentally. I see Cotto being confident the same way he fought Michael Jennings. With good reason, he is not facing a big, strong welter like Clottey and Margo. Even though Pac is the best fighter in the world, he is still the smaller man. On the other hand, you know what to expect from Pac. The speed, the explosiveness and the confidence. Outcome: Alright, here's the deal, Pac is facing a naturally bigger, stronger guy. Contrary to what Freddie Roach has been saying so far, I feel the plan will be to have Cotto taste his power and see how he reacts. It would be foolish to bum rush Cotto. as Clottey found out the hard way. Early on it will be an uphill battle with Cotto's power and bodypunching as a factor. Expect Cotto to match Pac blow-for-blow. However, I see Pac using his advantage in speed and doing enough damage and imposes his will as the fight goes on. Cotto will slowly lose his confidence as he becomes too slow to pull the trigger and cuts emerges on his face. More and more, shots come raining in. Cotto is still on his feet but he will be taking a lot of punches as the referee steps in around the 10th. Then Floyd, who is in attendance, jumps on the ring to steal the spotlight and gets booed incessantly.
We do not know if Margo wrapped for that fight. We know he tried against Mosley. Cotto and Cintron just try to use it as their excuse even though I think Margo beat them both fair and square. Hard to believe a fighter like him could get away with it 3 times in high profile fights.
Alright, I may have missed the exact time of stoppage but I think it played out the way I have stated above. Just want to brag.
Good post. I was slightly favoring Cotto but I also had said that if Pac can hurt Cotto. Then Pac has it in the bag.
