Best of luck Derry you've had a good career and have given us many good nights, I hope you stay in the sport and pass on your considerable experience and knowledge.

Sensible move, stick with that decision Derry. I think you just got into a rut at the end and lost a lot of confidence, its tough to get out of that and you gave it a try.

I think you'd have beat guys like Ramagoadi and Lawton a few years earlier. Confidence is a mysterious thing.

the biggest mistake boxers make is that staying in sthe ring is the only career they have. so many job oppertunity's with your C.V. your still young and seem to have a solid family/friend/business group. if you do retire you will be one of the good domestic stories. made a great run of what you had. fought some excellent fighters.

but remember you gotta make the right decision. if you still want to fight then i suggest you do. but if you are clear headed and think it's the time to hang them up, then good on you. most fighters never get into a position you are now.

hope we hear from you when your president of microsoft.

    bless

I was there the night you boxed the ears off Stephen Foster Jnr in his own backyard, Derry, and it was a magnificent display of boxing, an honour to witness.

Only new to this forum so i didnt know who you were until i read further down the posts. Thought you were john duddy at the start. I would be familiar with quite a few of your fights as we share the same surname and always kept an eye on your progress (i know.it sounds silly). You always struck me as a good, honest pro who tried his best each time i seen you. Thats all anyone can ask of a fighter. Best wishes in your retirement whatever you chose to do and resist any urge to comeback. Enjoy your time with yuor family. good luck!

Best of luck, you've been in some damn good fights, good to know you'll be helping out down your gym, I always feel it best for former pros to give wisdom to youngsters/amateurs/other pros once they decide to hang up the gloves :good
