Marquez look like crap over 135, it would just be a easy fight for Manny. I say take shane after Floyd
Thats what they should do, but Roach knows full well that the longer they wait for a Marquez fight, the better Pacquiao's chances increase. If they fight Mayweather in the spring, that would mean Marquez would get his chance in the fall........a prime Pacquiao against a 38 year old JMM......yeah Freddie, you're going to shut Marquez up!:rofl:rofl:rofl ......that would be much worse than Ray Leonard waiting all those years for Hagler to slip, to then call him out!
Marquez would have a fight between now and the fall of 2010, when Roach would like Pacquiao to fight Marquez. ......if Marquez took a fight with Hatton or one of the 140 lbs champs and looked good in the process, a 3rd JMM-Pacquiao fight would definitely be intrigueing........ Something tells me however that Roach is going to insist the fight happen at 147 lbs!:rofl:rofl:rofl They'll want Mayweather at a catchweight, but JMM at 147 lbs!
If I were Marquez I wouldn't. If I were Pac...I might. I scored their second fight for Marquez 115/113. Pac was much improved but still not there. Now he is.
I just don't think when the time comes they will care about catchweights now. I think they know it won't matter anymore.
I can see it now Roach will say "catch weights are bull**** we need to remove them, so JMM should come to 145."
It depends on the weight..... The fight should happen at 140 lbs, where Roach said months back that they'd fight Marquez....... .....certainly anything above that, I could'nt find myself picking Marquez without seeing him fight someone else other than Mayweather first. I sure would like to see a Marquez Hatton fight first, just to see if Marquez can deal with the strenghth of Hatton, who's certainly capable of bulldozing opponents...... If Marquez was able to deal physically and not get manhandled on the inside with a fighter as strong as Hatton, I'd certainly still pick Marquez over Pacquiao. At 135 lbs, of course I'd pick JMM......but thats now a weight Pacquiao even if he could make, would refuse to fight Marquez there. I'll put it this way....at any other weight under 140 lbs, I'd pick Marquez with complete confidence...... 140 lbs and above is just still a ? mark whether Marquez can fight and make the fluid movements needed to fend off an incoming Pacquiao. I'd certainly would not count Marquez out at any weight, and if he got off the the start that Cotto did against Pacquiao by boxing him........believe me, Marquez would take it home just like he did the last two times he faced Pacquiao!
There was a 2lb difference between the WW limit and the designated fight limit vs Cotto, and Cotto himself weighed only 1lb less than against Clottey. I'm sure they'd be willing to do the Marquez bout at 144 or 145, just as was stipulated against Mayweather. The only difference is that Pacquiao would come in on weight and not look for every last advantage he can find by being considerably over, unlike a certain boxer.
145 lbs???? I'm thinking Roach is going to insist that Marquez take the fight at 147 lbs.....a take it or leave it type of deal.
Roach initially wanted Cotto to come down all the way to 142 lbs......that is proof right there that Pacquiao can easily make 140 lbs.....there is not reason for a JMM-Pac fight not to take place at 140 lbs....... ......but of course, Roach would like to have every advantage possible, so he'd insist that the fight be made at a catchweight. The thing about this whole scenario is that Roach will insist that Mayweather come down as much as possible from 147 lbs, but he'll insist the other way that Marquez go up as much as possible past 140 lbs.... If Roach had his way, he'd want the Mayweather fight to be held at 140 lbs, and the Marquez fight to be held at 147 lbs!
