He never ducked Guzman, he certainly avoided him though. When they were both at 130, Guzman fought Soto. Arum said Pac would definately fight Soto if he won and he would consider Guzman if he won. Well Guzman won easily and then Top Rank acted like he didn't exist. So they definately avoided Guzman. Clearly, Top Rank felt Soto was an automatic win for Pac and a nice payday. That's why they wanted that fight. Guzman would've been a tough fight for Pac and the pay wouldn't have been worth it. As such, they simply avoided Guzman and moved on. It's not a big deal thoug because they ended up fighting Marquez next.
Thank you. To say somebody could land a punch on there hero gets these ***s actin like they have sand in there ****s. The guy isnt superman..... he's lost before he could lose again.
Not really avoiding. If the other option is bigger money fights and more prestige, why not choose that fight? They chose all the best money/prestige fights possible since 2003, except for the couple of tune up fights every now and then.
I know he can be beaten. And I dont hug his nuts. I hate him, outside of the ring, TBH. I'm just saying that he wasnt afraid of Joan Guzman.
And if you look at my first post neither do I. All I'm tryin to say that the fight was an option a few years ago and IMO I think Guzman would have won. The same with Soto. I in no way think he was scared or ducked him but the fight was avaible at one point and I think Soto would have had a good chance of coming out the winner.
We should avoid saying things like "Any decent boxing fan clearly would see that ______ defeats Pac if they had fought." and things like that. And I'm not even talking about ATG match ups. Just regular match ups. Lots of factors involved in real life. We never really know for sure.
I agree. I just dont think the thread started even seen Guzman fight(or soto either) and just jumped in and starts insulting them like they never deserved to be in the ring with Manny.
ducked top lightweights. David Diaz was the weakest lightweight champion at the time. previous to Pac's beating of David Diaz (6-28-08 ), Pac fought Marquez for the 2nd time (3-15-08 ). A week earlier (3-8 ), Nate Campbell defeat Juan Diaz to win his 3 titles. Two weeks after that (3-22), Casamayor defeat Katsidis, remaining the #1 lightweight. So Pac had the options of Casamayor, Campbell, or remaining title-holder David Diaz. Pac took Diaz. To make a point, 3 months later, Marquez moved up and took Casamayor (9-13-08 ), and won. Definitely more impressive rankings wise. Any other weight divisions, I'd sat Pac's resume is pretty impressive. Especially given that after his first win over Barrera, he stated that he wanted Morales and Marquez.... and he got them. He should call out Mayweather now...
MAybe he should've signed his fights at a caught weight....:think Actually know how to spell the mans name if you wanna be taken atleast a little seriously.
Marquez was the one who refused to give Pacquiao an immediate rematch and fought Chris John instead. He avoided Pac not the other way around.
