Alright lads. Anybody know anything of the ex-fighter from the Black Country, Shaun Cooper, and his current stable of pro's? I got talking to an old mate from the area recently and he told me that Cooper was a trainer now but I can't find much info on the net. Cheers all.
I watched him fight a few times as a pro and he had plenty of ability but then just dropped off the scene. From memory I don't think he even lost a pro fight. He was a former multi-titled schoolboy and junior amateur.
Rushing at the minute (nearly off work) but - He has a small stable including his nephew Jamie Ball (who just come second in Midlands young pro of the year ward to Frankie Gavin) also got Richard Ghent (good amatuer), Chris Male (gettin Midlands title shot) Martin Gordan, Kev McCauley few others. Took a few of the Wednesbury (1st Team promotions) lads who are from the Dudley area but they still fight under 1st Team promotions. 1st team got a show at "the venue" Dudley on 28th Nov which mostly features Coopers lads http://www.boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=588314
Cheers for the info lads. Yes, Bennie, I think it was a case of him just getting disillusioned with the boxing world. I think he had a 16-0 record when he walked away from the game, beating Paul Charters from up my way which brought him to my attention at the time. Shame he gave it up cos he had a lot of promise no doubt. Nice one for the link saturday_kid. I'll keep my eyes peeled for these lads in the future.
No worries pal. To be honest I think he got involved with some dodgy sorts (this isn't fact though all allegedly lol) and not sure if that was well after his career. His nephew Jamie Ball and Rich Ghent are definitely 2 to keep an eye on imo, seen them both quite a few times.
he has 2 british masters champs at the mo richard gent and chris male ( the both won titles in june) chris male is my cuz. jamie ball fighting in december 4 mids title all 3 r gud prospects. they train up fitness first by the merry hill center.
