With the Super Six underway involving some of the biggest names in the division as well as two of the world titles.

I think the other champions might want to get it on in an effort to keep their names at the top of the list.

Right now with Stieglitz being the WBO champion the possibilities of that happening are probably slim but if the rumored fight with Miranda happens and the challenger wins. I think HBO could show interest in a unification between him and the winner of Bute-Andrade.

The only thing that could mess that up is Pavlik moving up to 168lbs.

    Thoughts?

    Hi Maxime,
It's hard to tell, but for sure since the annoucement of the super 6, team Bute has to look for fights in the next year. Because even if Bute will be able to fight super 6 "loosers" in about 1 year, he must continu to improve until then. So every guess is good at this point.

The first step into this is in 2 weeks (less than) against Andrade. If Bute can dominate this fight (wich will be hard in my opinion) he will probably be a good way for HBO to try to make something in that division since Sho almost took it all with the super six. So we can hope that it will be easier for him to find big money and big fights after that. So why not a unification fight.

Je vais être à Québec le 28 novembre et je ne pense qu'à ça!

The only way unification happens is if a Universum fighter isn't holding one of the belts.

Bute's in sort of a crappy situation. The two highest ranked guys not in the tournament he's already beaten, and the other titlist's promoter will never let a Bute fight happen. Hopefully Pavlik needs to move up in weight soon, because that's the next best option. Or Bute could try moving up for one fight to face Chad Dawson. But most likely, he's stuck facing mandatories and the like for the next year or so.

It be great if it would happen. I would think HBO would love to get a piece of the SMW division and tie up half the belts. There's not much left until the Super Six is over.

Stieglitz is a bum who andrade already beat.

Dont matter if there is a diamond belt on the line, that fight aint gonna sell on TV.

Outside the bell centre, nobody is remotely interested in that one !

Stieglitz would be a lot of problems for Froch. Don't call him a bum. He may not be a top 10 but he's no bum.

Well, it would be a hell of an opportunity for Bute. I think he has all what it takes to make Miranda look bad. A second belt against Miranda would be a gift. But first the Miranda-Stieglitz fight has to happen and I'm not sure Miranda would win.

Alot of this depends on what Dawson does from here. I have a feeling that HBO bought Andrade-Bute II with the hopes that they'll have found themselves a future opponent for Dawson as much as that fight itself. If Chad re-ups with HBO, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Bute-Dawson happen.

Frankly, there's really nobody else in HBO's fight roster who would be a good fight (either in ratings or quality) for Dawson. Given what they've invested in him and that Cloud turned down the deal which would've resulted in a Cloud-Dawson fight on the network, it makes perfect sense that HBO is targeting Bute for Dawson's next realistic "big fight". I know Chad's team says they're still gunning for Hopkins, but I don't think they'll be successful in landing that fight.

If Dawson goes and signs with Showtime, all bets are off- but I'd be surprised if he bit the hand that's fed him and left HBO, especially considering Showtime's budget is likely strapped from their involvement with the Super Six.

I don't see Bute-Dawson happening unless Dawson moves down to 168lbs and I'm not sure he can do it at this point. He stepped into the ring at 191lbs against Johnson.

I don't see Pavlik moving up to 168. Why would he? What's the motivation? A tougher division with more stars VS owning the linear title and being the biggest star of MW.

There are no fights to be made at 160lbs.

He has lost to Abraham, Ward and Pavlik. These guys have one loss between them at that loss was to Bernard Hopkins.

The reason I believe Stieglitz would choose Miranda as his next defense is that out of the available SWM he would have the biggest name, especially in Germany/Europe. People are calling Miranda a gatekeeper, so if Stieglitz wants to put his name as a top 5-10 SMW he needs to get by Miranda.
