Am I Tripping Or Is The Pac-Cotto Fight Over Rated?

You're tripping. It was a very good fight. Probably not a classic but a good fight nonetheless.

They are by a long, long way the two best in the sport. Unless you don't rate the entire sport, there's no way this could seriously be interpreted as overrated.

Two things:

1) Cotto is far from one of the two best in the sport. He's very good, but nowhere near that good.

2) As an event it was huge. As a fight it was good, but not great. Which, I think, is the TS point.

 

I wouldn't go as far as "terrible", but I realized rewatching it how damned sloppy it was. Good fight, definitely more drama than Cotto - Pac, but probably not the FOTY either.

 

How is it hating? A good fight requires two fighters of roughly equal skill. It was obvious very early on in this fight that Pac outclassed Cotto by a wide margin. It was like watching a slow, half hour, execution.

 

What did you see in the 24/7 to change your mind? Pac's camp was shown to be in a mess in the 24/7.
