Other than the clear winner Manny Pacquiao, who are the candidates for fighter of the year 2009?

I have trouble really seeing anyone stand out.

Could have been Cotto. Mayweather only had one fight. This is a sure victory for Pacster.

If/when Vitali beats Johnson I'd put him #2 beating two undefeated contenders and Gomez

Floyd Sr. says it should be Floyd for beating Marquez impressively.

Pac is the fighter of the decade.

If this was the presidential election, Manny Pacquiao would win every state, win every electorial vote. Not even a contest. Manny Pacquiao.

The only other candidate in the running is Vitali and it's still not close. 2009 is Manny's year.

Good call. Pac is the obvious winner but other than Vitali I don't think anyone else is even in the running. They always put 3 nominees despite knowing Pac will win so with Vitali being one (provided he whups Johnson which shouldn't be an issue) who else?

Paul Williams if he beats Martinez?

    Martinez if he beats Williams?

Abraham maybe? 2 KO's and a wide UD?

Dawson maybe? Impressive wide UD's in rematches vs Tarver and Johnson

Pascal?? KO in tune up fight, Solid win over the very tough Diaconu and TKO over former title holder Branco in first defense.

Khan if he Ko's the elusive Salita? He was beating Barrera (albeit a washed up barrera) soundly til the stoppage and won a dominant UD for his first title vs Kotelnik.

Tim Bradley if he whups Peterson? He beat Holt and was beating Campbells ass til the stoppage

Gamboa? 4 fights 4 KO's while picking up his first title and succesfully defending it vs mandatory

Yohnny Perez? 2 very solid wins...beat Silence mabuza by TKO 12 and outclassed Agbeko to win first title.

Hozumi Hasegwa if he wins by first round KO again on Dec 18th? 2 first round KO's in defense of WBC title...

Marvin Sonsona if he wins tonight? It'll be his fifth fight this year and first defense of his newly aquired WBO belt. He's won 3 by early TKO and won a dominant UD to win the title after only 13 pro fights.

Edgar Sosa if he wins vs Rodel mayo tonight? He won 3 by TKO defending his WBC title already.
