Why do so many people dislike Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

As talented as he is, many, many people seem to hate Floyd Mayweather, including fans, commentators, and sports writers. Why is that?

I used to like him, but I'm just sick and tired of his lame excuses for not fighting certain guys. Shane Mosley isn't a big enough draw? He has five losses on his record? Ok, Floyd. Whatever you say. His loud mouth and the way he flaunts his money doesn't bother me, and neither does the supposed "boring" way he fights. For me, it is just the fact that he doesn't fight the guys the public wants him to see, and he gives ridiculous excuses for why he won't. Oh, and the fact that he came out of retirement to fight a guy so much smaller than him instead of someone like...oh, what's the point?

 

For me its the way he conducts himself in front of the camera. He nasty comments towards opponents, his talk about money all the time and his lack of grace or respect towards fighters.

Prince Naseem used to do it with a bit of tounge in cheek, he used to feel embarrased saying what he did but he had no malice or anything against his opponents.

 

Hes an obnoxious narcissistic egomaniac.

 

Because he acts like a twat. And I'm a fan.

 

About this duckin thing mosley ducked floyd first and has been callin everyone out. Floyds willin to fight pac and thats what everyone wants. I love watchin the guy fight. His skills are amazin and the way he make great fighters look ordinary is unbelievable. And the trash talk is gud cos it sells a fight.

I have to agree. He seems like someone that would be annoying as **** if you hang out with him.

 

He's a homo living an "undercover brother" lifestyle with Leonard Ellerbe. Unfortunately, even in 2009 people are judging others by their sexual orientation.

 

how can you like a guys that says

"If I leave the sports, it's dead" - head bigger than his balls

"Legacy don't pay bills" - fine! chase the money generating fights but stop harping like you're the greatest fighter ever lived

and I hate the name Money Mayweather. Far too bling damn!

A lot of fans doesn't like his "I, Me, Myself above all" attitude. He says his just all about the money w/c rubs a lot of boxing fans the wrong way.

 

I prefered pretty boy floyd to money mayweather. Dont no why he changed it.

I find Floyd hilarious to be honest, I think its funny that
everyone hates him, he controls what ppl think of him and
he is fully aware of it, uses it to full advantage aswell.

Definately out of all the above choices, Id say his arrogance
is off putting, he often puts down boxers - when he doesnt
really need to.

I dont think Mayweather avoids fighters, he cant fight everyone
who calls him out etc, I think Floyd fights to get paid maximum
dollars and he will fight the best pay day.
