I never realised how good this guy was till I watched a whole bunch of his fights recently ...

if you haven't seen his fights, search youtube and check him out.

Doesn't get the respect he deserves. Amazing boxer. Beautiful to watch.

i looked up record on boxrec and its un****ingbelievable

    26 straight title fights

    undefeated in 52 bouts (51-0-1)

was only knocked down once in his entire career.

beat every fighter he ever faced.

did you know when he was at the top of his career that christy martin was getting bigger pay days than him..he was on the undercard of those fights...
i like womens boxing and i think we should accpet it into main stream boxing than a side act...if laila ali fought ann wolfe i would watch that..but when a women tilist is getting paid more than the unified undisputed strawieght champion and two wieght champion....you have to wonder is that right.

anyways rant over...he was amazing god given abilties very skinny but could grab power from it and could punch especially for such a small guy in the lowest wieght class

ATG. Was great at everything. Unappreciated by casual fans due to his weight classes and lack of exposure.

This is probably the only thing that held back his ATG ranking to higher status. That he fought at a division where his dimensions fitted perfectly. Why? Well, move back about 40 years and he would have fought the behemonts at 112 regardless of how much he weighed. Boxing history is full of dead flyweights who could've done a lot had there been 105 or 108 at their time.

Aside from this, if you want to teach a kid the fundamentals of boxing, you could just show him a tape of his fights.

yeah man it sucks...the average boxing fan gets all wet when a heavyweight lands a clean punch...imagine if they ever saw some of the lighter guys fight, they would have multiple orgasms

Well, I always believed that lighter weight fights are an acquired taste. We like and appreciate them, and I fell sorry for those who are stuck being a fan of heavyweights. They don't know what they're missing.

thanks for reminding me. by the way, what the hell is wrong with montiel? I always viewed him as a smart boxer-puncher. He seems to be very vulnerable the last few times I saw him. Was it really his style or is he just not comfortable with southpaws?

Agreed, i'm just hoping he gets the big names before all those wars catches up. Soon he'll get busted up easily. I can only imagine how cool Alexander Munoz-Montiel could be.
