I do think Hagler and Leonard simnply had the means to enforce their gameplan. Hearns really tried against leonard to use his height and jab, but Leonard ccould adapt. Against Hagler, Hearns was too happy to brawl, but in a rematch Hagler would have done the same to him.

If someone could take Hearns' power, he was quite vulnerable.

Others have already said it but Naseem Hamed ruined his career by getting too big headed and ditching the man who made him.

As soon as Hamed dispensed with Brendan Ingle and surrounded himself with people who knew little in comparison and worse still pandered to Naseems ego rather than steer, protect and sometimes take him down a peg, he was ruined.

I bet he regrets his actions and his fallout with Ingle but he would never openly admit to it.

Right on the money. Rewatch round 12 in his second fight with Pac. WTF was he thinking? The man could box but could always be made to trade.

zab judah would have had a better career if he wouldnt elected to brawl, and instead took a counterpunching approach to fighting.

Yeah, there was a handful of fighters who elected to BRAWL way too often...When they had ALL THE SKILL necessary to OUTBOX anyone:

    Meldrick Taylor
    Terry Norris
    Tommy Hearns
    Derrick Gainer
    Zab Judah

but then you have to wonder if some of these fighters would have gained the legendary status they currently possess in boxing lore.

This may seem an odd answer to such a question but i am actually going with Kostya Tzsyu. There is a massive difference in the Kostya who competed as an amature and the Kostya that competed as a pro. The amature Kostya was one of the most complete fighters i have ever seen: not only was he excellent offensively, he was excellent DEFENSIVELY too (just ask vernon forest). His head movement was excellent, and he was damn hard to hit clean. As a pro he seemed to fall in love with his power and abandoned a lot of the defensive skills he once had. He still accomplished a hell of a lot as a pro, but IMO he could have perhaps been ever great and certainly had a longer pro career.

I wouldn't say this ended his career, but his career ended with a sour note on this fight.

Marvin Hagler vs Sugar Ray Leonard.....when Hagler approached the fight as a Southpaw.....he should have fought as he always did with that stiff jab.

He never really got into a rythym and had to chase Leonard most of the night.

Shane Mosley is another one. He was a much better and complete boxer before he fell in love with power boxing bull**** and got on roids .

Definitely Chico. He was a 5'10 - '11 lightweight... who wanted to brawl.

Exactly what i was going to say. Look at him from his Amateur days through his fist 15 pro fights and see how incredibly skilled he was, threw all of it out the window and just tryed to lay guys out.

Maybe Jirov too, he was very skilled but his toughness would make him want to stand toe to toe when he didn't have to.
