Don't know if any of you guys have ever heard of a Bantom weight by the name of Francisco Rodriguez. He died in the hospital after a grueling fight this weekend. He was a local kid who came up through the Chicago park district. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-chicago-boxer-24-nov24,0,2130476.story
Some information about the boxer and the fight is contained within a thread that I created in the General Forum about this. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186818 From the sound of it, he worked his way back into the fight after getting buzzed early. RIP once again, and best wishes to his family, as well as to Teon Kennedy.
I still wish those boxers who died could be honored by the IBHOF or something along those lines. They really should be honored in some way to provide the family with comfort and for boxing fans to show their appreciation for this tough, tough sport.
I actually got a phone call from Joe Cortez Saturday morning telling me about this. He stated that Rodriguez was brain dead already. One of our very good friends was the referee of that bout and he was the one that contacted me when Rodriguez passed away. At that time I sent out notices to all the boxing people. I have over 500 boxing people on my list and it grows all the time. Most of them have lists as well, so it go out to 1,000 of boxing people all over the World.
