Nobody who has seen the fight, can really doubt what damage the headbutt did. It was terrible. I think Mayol knew how badly hurt Sosa was and chose to hold back before getting the knockout, to make the win seem more legitimate. I believe he could have stopped him within 30 seconds of the fight restarting. Sosa was done.
