I'd have to say both. He's every bit as good as what we all saw against Kessler but stylistically Kessler was perfect for Ward. He was so predictable that Ward started taking huge chances in the middle rounds, really amateurish stuff and still Kessler couldn't do squat about it.

This was a win that doesn't quite tell the whole story....yet.

I am pretty convinced that it was his promoters plan for the fear that Kessler is still as good as he was. In the end, it was totally unnecessary, as Kessler couldn't pull the trigger at all. Even at his best, it seems that Kessler doesn't have the tools to deal well with quick swarming types. But his missing speed and freshness closed the show this time.

Ward was very good, his performance would've have been even better without those dirty tactics like holding and charging with his head down. He doesn't need that.

As for Kessler, I wouldn't say he was overrated or hyped. It's more a thing of him having a bad day - he was inactive and looked very rusty. Maybe he's just past his best already.

    Ward is good!!!
Quit tryin to discredit the man!
For me, he will win the super6 providing he doesnt get knocked out.
He's certainly the favourite in my book!

    facts are thus:

-ward has had competitive fights with bums!
-he has been put on his arse by a chump!
-he was unable to stop a declining pantera who only has about 2 more fights left in him(abraham and pavlik sparked him out mid rounds)

    i dont buy it..

kessler will go down as the best win of his career!! it was a great win but kessler looked awful not because of how good ward was (andre looked sloppy at times and utilized headbutts left right n centre) but because kessler plain and simple looks done.

What i want to know is, how does Kessler go from being CLEARLY the best SMW in the world to being over the hill or close to being done after the Ward fight?

I bet you when Kessler beats Froch, these same people will do a 360 and say Kessler is a P4P king. :nut

Here is the thing with alot of European boxing fans, they follow the same pattern with every fighter. He is a great fighter that no one will fight, then he beats some mid-level American and he is an all time great, then he loses a fight and he is past his prime, that may all happen in a years time. Perfect example is AA. The guy beat Taylor who is shot to **** and all of a sudden he is the great thing since sliced bread. Once he loses in this tourny he will become shot, that is after all the excuses have been exhusted. And it will be on to the next guy. It seems that many European fans arent that loyal to thier fighters, only while they are on a winning streak. The difference between them and most of the other fans around the world is the others live and die with thier fighter. I remember some years back there was a European fighter by the name of Shea Neary, and oh how they boosted that guy up, he got distoryed by Mickey Ward and all of a sudden he was a bum that lost his best days, after some time pasted the very posters that were claiming him great claimed that they never said it, that they though he was average the whole time:roll:

As we call here in the States a Bandwagon fan:good Not a beloved term

Ward took all the right decisions in that fight, and everything in that event was good for him, I'd like to see how he reacts out of his territory in a pressured situation, when all odds are against him. The fight proved that Ward is here to win it, he's determined and fast, so he's definitely the american favorite Kessler and Froch are a step behind him for now
