Who's the most accurate jabber in HW history?

The first ones that come to mind are Holmes, Liston, Ali.
But Holyfield had an excellent jab which he timed perfectly, it's a shame he didn't use it more often. Tyson had a solid jab, especially for his height/style, Lewis obviously had a top notch jab.

I'm split between Liston and Holyfield.
My poll was made pretty quick, I may have missed someone who you think deserves it so just check other if that's the case :good

Between Holyfield and Liston.Oh? You consider them as possessing the most accurate and well timed jabs in the heavyweight division?

I'd struggle to find a more accurate jab than Wladimir Klitschko's. Ask Chris Byrd. I wish Holy used that jab more too. Your first three will probably go down as the best though. Liston, Holmes and Ali. But Louis comes to mind also. Even way past it, it was something.

When those guys threw and utilized the jab, chances are it landed.

Holmes had a great jab (maybe the best jab ever), but a lot of that is due to him throwing it so ****ing much. In terms of pure accuracy I don't think it's the same as Liston's or Holyfield's.

That's so hard to choose from on that list. Ali's had that blinding speed in his prime, you couldn't do much about it. Liston's was probably the hardest. A real bone-breaker, plus the reach. Lewis had that reach and a lot of strength but not necessarily much speed. Then you could have Foreman, slowish but they had to teach him to pull the punch because it knocked guys backward so much, he couldn't land the two on a one-two!

Excuse me, I got so excited I forgot the actual purpose of the thread-accuracy. Sorry!

Any other answer besides Holmes is the wrong answer.

Jack Johnson deserves to be mentioned among this company. He was known for his ability to redirect his jab in mid flight as his target moved to avoid it. Tunney's jab didn't miss much either.

johnson is/was a good fighter but when i think "jab" in my mind i see holmes throwing that left hand with his bulldog-licking-****-off-a-stinging-nettle facial expression.

holmes used it like a tool all the others had great great left hands but holmes is much more well rounded.

good underdog call from douglas. not on the same level of class but very very very good. you could argue that even if he didnt beat tyson or fought tyson at all he would of been remembered by a few here for his great jab. knocked quinn navarre out cold with a jab

Jab is almost synonymous with Larry Holmes imo. I cna't think of anyone, on the whole, that used it better.

I voted for Liston, but I think in retrospect maybe Wlad is the best vote. He certainly doesn't waste many. Basically I think there is no wrong answer on that list.

A jab is a multipurpose weapon which may not only be used to hurt an opponent, but to keep him off balance and as a range-finder.

Maybe the OP is searching for the great heavyweight who expended the least energy on his jab to inflict the most damage to his opponent?

I can't really come up with reasons why Wlad's isn't the best. It's heavy, long, accurate, and quick enough.
