I remember watching a clip of his trash talking on sky/BBC news before the DLH fight because he was so raw.....and that fight was not that big a deL for the UK news teams as it was elsewhere

Ah right, forgot the context. Not tying the record still has no bearing on a mythical head to head matchup between the two whatsoever, so foot not really in mouth at all. A foot in mouth statement would have been "I swear on my mother's grave that I will not only equal but surpass 49-0". Simply making a head to head statement such as he did, even if there's implied meaning, does not itself qualify as a foot in mouth statement in that circumstance.

May not have been foot-in-mouth, but it was totally classless. He made the remark in the presence of a Marciano family member.

He was obsessed with overtaking 49-0.

Marciano never said a thing about Holmes. He never even heard of him.

But that was par for the course for Larry.

He usually strikes me as a classless **** with a huge chip on his shoulder and an inflated view of his abilities and place in boxing history.

For the record, I think he was actually very good, and rank him 5 or 6 alltime, depending, ironically, on where I place Marciano.
