    i think respectively.....

paul williams have sort of dealt with what martinez brings to the table
martinez on the other hand hasnt...

i think (hope) the fight will end up like a more competitive version of the verno phillips fight

I'm still relatively undecided. I'm edging towards Williams and I'd make him the favourite, but Martinez is a slick-southpaw, good mover and an intelligent fighter. I think he can replicate what Quintana did and I think that'll be his gameplan. The Kolle, Philips and Winky fights didn't show us anything new about Williams, this is the perfect chance for Williams to show he's improved since that Quintana loss. If he can adjust and has made improvements, I think he'll decision Martinez. If not, he's in danger of dropping another judges verdict.

Why does anyone think this will even be a close fight????7
I feel like im taking crazy pills!

Name one good fighter that Martinez has beaten!

Martinez has an AWFUL record. He's built up his record by fighting NOBODIES.

If Williams cant take care of this guy easily,he can kiss his hopes of ever getting Floyd goodbye.

I'd be lying if I said I really knew. My guess is that 160 will favor Williams, as he chose the weight and Martinez is a natural 154lb fighter. And Williams' insane reach and workrate will be a motherf*&ker to deal with for Martinez. But Martinez is far and away the best prime fighter that Williams has faced. If Margarito gave Williams some problems late in their fight then Martinez should pose some serious difficulties, as he's a much more versatile and skilled fighter than Margarito. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Martinez by late tko.

Martinez is super slick and a southpaw, he will make Williams miss and make him pay i think. He is basically a bigger and superior version of Quintana and i think although Williams might win the late rounds on volume Martinez can out point to a close descision. This guy is a styllistic nightmare for williams, movement is the key to stopping Williams throwing and this is what Martinez can do that his last few opponents havent done.

thank you this guys has more padding than my sofa. he is built up. his best televised showing was bunema. other than that we know he was stopped by margarito and had some serious issues with cintron who is a quitter.( MArtinez won the cintron fight twice in the same night and only ended up with a draw.)

should be an easy night for williams. 8 rounds.

I voted for Martinez cuz I am a fan of his. However, his defense is based on reflexes and he keeps his hands low. Against a volume puncher like Williams that spells trouble. Don't get me wrong, Martinez is much slicker than PW and has the technical tools to school him over 12 rounds but his hands-down stance may cause him to get KOed. PW is a special fighter: a huge, lanky southpaw swarmer.

As for Martinez's resume, his best wins are: Cintron (I guess it's safe to say he won that), Bunema, and Roman. PW has a far better resume anyway you look at it.

    Can't wait for this one..
Best bet right now is 12rds.

Williams should be the fav, But over confidence can sometimes hurt a fighter..
(& Williams is on cloud nine w/HBO sucking his **** every chance they get)

Martinez by decision. It's just a simple matter of pulling the oafish Williams out of position with footwork and countering him. This process can be generically repeated for 12 rounds.

    Williams clear UD.

Martinez is at his best when he drops his gloves and upjabs. This allows him to use his speed to keep his opponent off balance and work his offense through that. Only problem is, Williams is too fast and too busy to drop your hands against. If Martinez tries this, he is going to get outworked maybe stopped.

I dont think he will try this...I expect him to keep a tight guard and try to work behind that...which isnt Martinez's strength. And if your offense isnt playing to its strengths against a fighter like Williams, you have no chance.

And I love when I hear people say Williams footwork, head movement, etc are his weaknesses! When was the last Williams fight you saw? Quintana 1? Go watch the Winky fight and listen closely to exactly why everyone felt he dominated Wright...head movement, footwork, defense and workrate. He has grown so much as a fighter its insane.
