I, like the next man (women, children, etc.), am excited for this mega-fight. Clearly the biggest fight of this "era." Anyways, I am seriously considering writing HBO sports, Top Rank, or whomever I can to express concern over the under-card. They CANNOT **** this under-card up like they did the Cotto-Pac, DLH-Pac, etc. I mean, this is the Superbowl of boxing. It deserves to be accompanied with a strong supporting card. The fans deserve no less. Especially at a cost of AT LEAST $54.95 for standard def. Does anybody else feel this way? Since the public "demanded" PBF vs FLOYD I think we should "demand" a solid undercard too... the more voices the better!
I agree. With a hell of a undercard, they could put together the biggest fight card attraction of all time.
Furthermore, I think this thing is really going down. Espn w the story on Packy's congressional run seems legit and I don't think Floyd wants to wait that long. Write those letters guys... it'll take you like 5 minutes. I might even post mine on here...
If other top notch fighters are smart enough, they wouldn't mind getting a bit less on an undercard to get INCREDIBLE coverage on the most anticipated and viewed all time boxing event. Some guys must be smart enough to want to join in on the action and take advantage of the perks of being in there !!
If the fight ends up heading to Dallas Stadium then I would expect Arum to try once again match Valero and Soto assuming Valero can move past his legal troubles. Texas is the one state in which Valero is licensed so the prospects of his long awaited debut to the casual fans would be promising.
In an ideal world: Main event : Mayweather-Pacquiao Undercard : Pavlik-Williams Prior fight : Clottey-Margarito rematch
Even better matchup would be Valero-Diaz (In Texas) Again Valero is licensed in Texas and is a Top Rank fighter. Meanwhile Diaz is from Texas and fights for Golden Boy.
To be honest, if both Hopkins and Jones look good this evening, how good would it be to see them on the card? Completely unrealistic, and I think Hopkins would dominate, but is there really a fight out there as intriguing as a rematch between Bhop and Jones? I have my doubts.
Actually, the fight between Hops and RJJ was initially set for March 13th on HBO but neither has any link with Top Rank and that's where the problems may start... I previously thought of macthups that mainly involved Arum's guys, but yes Hopkins-Jones would definitely be the most incredible undercard for such a mega fight !! Are the 2 guys with such big egos capable of accepting being on an undercard ??? That's probably the bigger question besides the money they need guaranteed...
I'd definitely like to see Valero in the undercard, he has that style that can get the casual fan to take notice.
