The Khan circus is becoming a bit of a joke. Lawton was handpicked, he was coming off a stoppage loss and is a particularly light puncher. He completely froze and offered no kind of challenge. No doubt people here will read far too much into this win, and will think that this victory (quicker than Thaxton's) combined with Jon's performance last night means that Khan would beat John Thaxton. People need to take a reality check with Amir Khan instead of getting as excited as the ITV commentators.
Jesus... good performance from Pryce. You just wonder about him stepping up though. Commonwealth, British and maybe European is his level. Ships far too much punishment for a normal human sometimes.
It will be very interesting to see how Khan copes when put in wit a puncher but still that was impressive. Lawton was poor but Khan looked good.
Was a good performance by Khan and the improvement from his last fight is encouraging. Completely one sided fight though and disappointed Lawton allowed Khan to dominate and didn't test him - he hardly landed a punch. In that respect Lawton was a step backwards from the Limond fight in my opinion. To really assess how good Khan is he does need to be put in with better quality opponents now who will test him. Earl or Thaxton would be a definite step up for Khan - whether they are on the slide or not? We haven't seen Earl in action since the Katsidis fight which is unfortunate. As for Thaxton - he didn't look particularly impressive in his last bout but despite his poor performance he still won against a really worthy challenger in Stewart who had a good gameplan and boxed well. Thaxtons strength and stamina over 12 rounds did prevail in the end - he just doesn't give up even when things aren't going his way and would still present a huge risk to Khan who has yet to face a known puncher. It does work both ways and would be a risk for Thaxton too - but one worth taking in my view.
Khan looked good, but my god Lawton was awful. No wonder Khan looked so confident...with 4 KO's, he must have known he could walk through Lawton. Didn't much help himself by freezing basically from the first bell and letting Khan back him up either. Khan is making decent fighters look amatuers at the moment...but he's not actually been put in with a 'dangerous' decent fighter yet. Lawton was a step back even from Limond.
Lawton started like he was there to fight but Khan never let him into the fight. Khan has improved. The finish was beautiful work. When Khan got him on the ropes he'd fire off and step off so he wasn't there for the counter. Generally he kept his gloves higher and moved his head. He wasn't leaning forward either. Great stuff. Lawton is by no means a measure of world potential but Khan did what he should against such an opponent - he dominated. Good domestic scrap as LAwton was the English champ. Before that Khan fought the Commonwealth champ and is now being lined up for a former British champ, then the actual British champ. So domestically he is on point.
