  2. B-HOP should still take the fight with Roy Jones Jr. cause after making fans wait so long and then saying that the fight will finally happen he should still do it for the fans. Even if Jones is way past it.

Good interview. Hopkins is bang on about Jones not having to use the basics, and now he is suffering as a result.

I'm sorry, what? Roy just got knocked out in ONE ROUND. ONE ROUND.

I'm a huge Roy fan as well as Hopkins (as you can tell by my avatar and title) but honestly, Hopkins was already apprehensive about this fight due to the fact he knew it wasn't the same Roy everyone remembers. Say Roy beat Green, even knocked him out in a certain number of rounds, Hopkins was STILL certain it wasn't the same Roy.

There's no way that Hopkins takes this fight now, there's just no way. It has zero appeal.

  7. so what, he got caught by a lucky shot (behind the head) in a fight that green had done nothing until he landed that. I still think Roy Jones Jr. can beat B-HOP, cause Bernard don't have the power the green has and I think Jones can still outbox him just like back in 1993. This fight should still happen in my eyes cause people still want to see it, and I think Jones can win it!

Green sussed out RJJs jab for 30 seconds of the first round, found his range, marched him back to the ropes with a stiff right to the body, then cut off the ring to put RJJ in the corner, then jabbed to the head, threw a straight right to his chest to make him drop his hands, then hammered a short right hook to the temple to drop him.

Green did nothing but land a lucky punch, huh?:lol::lol:

No, people do NOT want to see it, at least not overall. You, and a select group of people may still want to see it, but depending on how Hopkins performs tonight, it'll be looked at as a joke. If Roy looked impressive, it'd still be something people would consider.

What happened the last time Roy fought two or three lesser opponents, then fought someone world class? Hmm? I believe that was when he fought Prince Badi Ajamu, Anthony Hanshaw and a washed up, overweight Felix Trinidad, NONE of whom he knocked out, and then got his ass handed to him by Joe Calzaghe.

Now he's beaten Omar Sheika, Jeff Lacy and GOTTEN KNOCKED OUT IN ONE ROUND by Danny Green, and he's supposed to fight Bernard? IF you ask me this pattern insinuates Roy might end up in a goddamn body bag if he fought Bernard.

Roy made his name and his legend off his reflexes and his speed. His reflexes are shot to ****, and though his speed's still there, it's not what it once was. Hopkins nailed the point on the head saying Roy never learned the basics, he relied on his athleticism and physical talents. Now that those are gone/not the same, he's not the same fighter.

This fight shouldn't, and won't happen. Bottom line.

I disagree. There could still be a market for this fight, although not as much as before.

I personally hope Hopkins takes the fight. There is precedent for this. Judah lost to his tune up with Baldomir, yet he still fought Floyd Mayweather a couple months later.

I don't think so. Hopkins might still want it, but the fans will not really. They did fight already. Jones vs. Hopkins now is not a great fight. If Hopkins beats Jones what accomplishment is that after Green knocks him out quickly?

That is different. Judah is not Jones. Jones is a great fighter and you cannot just put a great like Jones in there to be knocked out again just because some people want to see them fight again. Judah was not seen as an older fighter, he was seen as a guy who lost a fight because of the wrong style matchup, but Jones lost because of a weak chin or age. What if Hopkins fights Jones and knocks him out in 4 rounds, how does that help Hopkins or Jones?

Ditto - you saved me the typing.

  15. B-HOP is overrated! look at who he beat, a weight drained Antonio Tarver, and overweight Winky Wright, he lost clear to Calzaghe is a horrible looking fight, and beat a overated Kelly Pavlik 2 weight classes above the guys weight. So RJJ has been fighting the same level of fighter, and to be honest I think Roy could stop B-HOP in the late rounds if the rematch still could happen. Now yes he should get less money for the rematch, but it still should happen and if you were a real RRJ fan you would see this. Take the Avatar off , you are ruining Jones legacy by waring it.
