I will get some flack for this but I thought it was an early stopage. Yes Gren was landing and Jones did look a bit off balance but his hands were up and he seemed to have a clear head. I'm not saying that Jones was going to come back to win he might not have made it out of the round regaurdless. Than again Jones knocked Calzghe down in the first and we all know how that went.
Jones should retire. He is 40 years old he has been a world champion in 4 weight classes 160, 168, 175 & heavyweight. In his 168-175 prime he may be as unbeatable as they come. In otherwords he has nothing left to prove. His ticket to the Hall of fame is asured. And besides do boxing fans realy want to see him take on the likes of Lacy and Green? ERspicily if they can now beat him?
This is boxing and while he should hang'em up. He probbly wont. It seemes that Hopkins is still willing to go through with their proposed fight. I'm kind of surprised but not shocked about this. Kind of surprised because. I can't hink of any thing Hopkins has to gain as a boxer with this match up. Win and he beat a washed up guy who was ko'd in the first round in his last fight. Lose or Draw to a guy who is washed up and lost his fight first round ko will do great damage to Hopkins legacy. I'm not shocked that Hopkns is still intrested due to the fact that there is still a lot of money to be made by this match up.
Jones on the other hand has a lot to gain from a win over Hopkins. Despite losing to Green the way he did I think it is still a winable fight for Jones.Youmight be asking your self if Jones can still beat Hopkins why shouldn't he take the fight? He should if it were to be his last fight. If he wins and maby if he dose not win it probbly won't be his last fight. If anything about jones is greater than his athletic ablity it is his ego. If he beats Hopkins than he will faceone of the young 175ers Dawson, Clud or Pascaul. Or chalenge fir a crusir weight or heavyweight tittle. All these options are a recipe for desaster.

  2. That was my first impression too. But Roy had no complaints. He was wobbling all over the ring after the first temple shot. And the ref was in a better position to see how much damage Roy was taking than us.

Green tagged Jones with a "Glancing" shot and Jones dropped like he'd been hit by a .44 magnum....... Jones' chin is brittle like an ancient portrait...

it was a premature stoppage. jones was still defending himself and 90% of greens punches were landing on jones' arms or gloves.
