Jones has fought many times at light heavy and even at heavyweight and done well. Trinidad has not fought above middleweight before. Both fighters can knock out each other with a good shot on the right spot but i think Jones speed, skills and strenght will win him this fight but it will be competitive.

In all honesty...I questioned the competitiveness of this fight...RJJ is looking for a way out to erased his embarrasing defeast at the hand of Taver and Glencoff....Tito would be the one...this could be a double sword edge for RJJ....

    Agreed.

I'm not a Jones fan, but despite his slippery slope in the last few years, I like Jones in this fight early. Listen to Jones' commentary during the Winky Wright fight. He has his style analyzed to a T, and will knock him out inside of 3 or 4 rounds. It's why Jones took the fight.

Jones resume is fine. Some good guys, some bad ones, lots of champions and contenders. Those are the facts.

I am will not disagree with you but I will say that the purpose of the thread was not to address a winner but simply state a fact, regarding RJJ...and Tito , heavy handed puncher he was might have that on the back of his head...and may try go for broke early also, which might proof your prediciton right

Actually that's a lie, but you can keep saying it over and over if it helps you sleep at night. :thumbsup

Just because some poster on a message board calls a fighter a chump, doesn't make it so.

Of course, I don't expect you to give him a fair assessment, seeing as how you think he isn't even one of the top 100 fighters ever.

Would you like to point out all the chumps who weren't contenders (this is of course, excluding the fights he had as a prospect, since all fighters fight average fighters at that point). Leave your opinion out of it and point out NON Top 10 ranked fighters?

It's tito's only chance, if he doesnt know Roy Jones out, he is going to lose badly on points. SOmehting like 8-4 or 9-3....maybe worse..

is'nt this taking place at a catch weight of 170?? imo rjj cannot make that weight without getting drained.

    drained rjj = KTFO

    Back on the subject.

You are probably right. Jones STILL doesn't look right. I honestly wonder aloud now if he was part of Balco, cuz his physique is nothing like it used to be.

Tito can win this fight, but only if Jones stands right in front of him and lays on the ropes. If Jones makes weight easily, and has anything left, Jones will most likely stop him. This more depends on Jones condition than anything Trinidad does.

kg your absolutely right ... roy will be a dead man walking at this weight !! tito is going to lay a beating on him...roy is too old to go down to 170 ....its going to absolutely leave him defenseless

In roy's fights since he was ko'd by Tarver he has done nothing but avoid a fight and lay on the ropes ... sure he's shown slight flashes of his old self but its not going to be enough against Tito .....

Hopkins fought like a mad man constantly punching moving feinting blocking titos shots jabbing countering for 12 rounds straight !

Roy can't do this at this stage of his career

But like I said, if for some reason Jones makes this weight easily, he can beat Trinidad.

Also, look at Wright, who looked sluggish going up to 170, and he is bigger than Tito. That could be a concern.

What could be a huge problem as a viewer and fan is if Jones can barely make weight and Trinidad can't carry the weight. Then we will be reduced to watch two ATG do absolutely nothing in the ring.

KG i agree that the outcome hinges more on rjj condition than anything else. even if he makes 170 on the scales thats too unhealthy for him. factor in that he's going to be 39, i dont think he'll be at 70% during the fight even if he rehydrates over night. at this age, the foot speed that made him untouchable is shot to bits. add in the effects of being drained, his wheels are gonna give up before the 4th. he's gonna be a sitting duck all night on the ropes, ala his previous fights. aside from that, his punches are gonna lose their pop and speed from becoming drained. a lot of people are counting out tito since this fight was announced, but he has a chance of winning. obviously trinidad is not gonna be in the best shape either after a long layoff, but he has a good 4 rounds to try and bomb rjj out of there, before he gasses out. imo, i see trinidad going on a all out assault on rjj from the start (like the strategy i see vargas using against mayorga). if the odds are good it would'nt be ill advised to put some money on tito.
