I will never understand the weight excuse for Green losing to Mundine. Green had always fought at 168 so why is that an excuse.

Well, he did fight his two previous fights at light heavy, but yeah, I wouldn't say that he was too uncomfortable at 168.

He does look better and healthier at light heavy though.

Okay, Rise Above, I think you're cool, so I'll explain the weight issue, and hopefully that dopey **** luds will see the light :yep

When Green fought Mundine, he had had 23 fights for 21 wins.

In 14 of those fights, he came in under the SMW limit of 168lbs.

For the other 9 of those fights, he came in over 168lbs, and even fought 3 of them at LHW.

This was his run of fights leading up to the Mundine fight and my opinion of his physical appearance in them:

Beyer - weighed in at 167.5lbs, looked healthy
Lucas - weighed in at 167.75lbs, looked pale but other wise healthy
Sullivan - weighed in at 168.75lbs, became severely dehydrated and was in a stupor from round 6 onwards
Gonzalez - weighed in at 173.75lbs, looked healthy
Beyer 2 - weighed in at 166lbs, looked badly underweight
Crawford - weighed in at 170lbs, looked healthy
Garcia - weighed in at 171.75lbs, looked healthy

Mundine - weighed in at 167.24lbs, looked pale and badly underweight

Since losing to Mundine he's moved up to LHW and has looked far healthier at that weight than he did at SMW in the fights leading up to and including the Mundine fight.

Taking into account the first Beyer fight was in 2003 and the Mundine fight was in 2006, I don't think it's beyond reason to believe that Green was outgrowing SMW in those 3 years and was struggling to make weight.

In some of the fights, such as the Lucas one, he managed okay, but then look at the disaster that was the Sullivan fight, which was only 1 fight later. It suggests he was baking himself to make weight and it caught up with him on that occasion, possibly due to the high temperature in the stadium.

Green agreed to fight Mundine at SMW, so he can't blame anyone but himself if the weight was a factor, but in my opinion, he looked emaciated for that fight. Whether or not that affected his performance, no one will ever know, but I have more confidence in Green fighting Mundine at LHW than at SMW.

it was all we talked about on here and all articles had Danny raving on how much better his diet, conditioning etc.were so great under Salas.after the fight it became an issue including Toney sparring session,Sullivan dehydration etc.just an excse after a 1 sided loss.pride was hurt.

Mate, I agree that he should never have come out with it as a way of explaining his poor performance vs Mundine because he agreed to fight him at SMW, but as my post above explains, I do believe the weight was an issue for him.

the past is the past at least hes trying to land big fights now.may be he is improving with age.i think Danny when plan A isnt working has lacked a plan B eg.Beyer 2,Mundine and is unable to adapt when in trouble like say Joe Calzaghe.a fight with Hopkins would be intriguing as i believe we would see how he copes when under pressure.also Hyder is far calmer and less panicky in the corner than Fenech and would settle him down better IMO.

    I agree.

I think Green has matured as a boxer - possibly the time he had to reflect in his retirement helped him develop that side of things.

He's got the experience of being on the big stage now, and looked very relaxed about it all the other night.

I hope he goes on to win another couple of big fights and then calls it a day.

Was worried Green looked too relaxed as he walked to the ring - but as soon as he saw Roy he got the serious face on. Roy by contrast looked either worried or very switched on and serious from the moment we saw him on screen.

danny green is just as bad as mundine.he roped the australian public in and beat a very old and washed up roy jones.green is extremely overated and predictable i just hope he fights adamek to prove to the world that hes only an average fighter who is thieving the punters who watch him.

I'm not even a Green fan, I think I had money on Mundine in that fight. But I think he was drained/sick looking for that fight. To be honest I think nerves played a part. He looked very physically and psychologically stressed in the lead up to the fight.

He was nervous cause he knew he had bitten off more than he could chew.

Weight wasnt an issue, stamina wasnt an issue but his lack of skill was.

Green calling Mundine and insignificant **** ant will go nicely next to his comment that Choc has a tic tac heart.

Mundine will rat-a-tat-tat his arse again

Could be right. But unfortunetly for Mundine he wont be the the main man and will for once be made to take the significantly lower pay packet..

    70/30 split i think...

With Green Machine promotions looking after the fightcard etc..

When Hopkins does a number on him he will back to ground zero. This is when Khoder will strike.
