Is Bernard Hopkins the greatest boxer of the last 20 years (1990-2009)?

Oscar's level of competition is par or slightly better than Hopkins'... it's that he lost several of these fights what makes Hopkins, who only lost clearly to Roy in 2 decades, a better ATG. The number of (often dominating) wins over elite opponents sometimes in the underdog situation, the long title reign and the performances post-40 with disputed losses is a better combination than Oscar's wins and losses. Not by much though...

But one thing is sure: Oscar's resume quickly became underrated from overrated due to the young generation / late followers who think DLH's career started vs. Felix Trinidad, and that he lost every big fight he ever had. It's hard to argue with those who don't even have enough information to start an argument, yet they act like they do. Hopkins, Oscar, these two can easily end up on any list regarding decades and legends.

Not sure how anyone could rank Hopkins over either of those two, particularly Whitaker.

Resume is the single most important factor, but it is not the only one.

Oscar's resume is clearly, clearly stronger than Floyd Mayweather's - who do you rank higher between those two?

    Feeble argument crushed.

Bernard Hopkins ranks higher in all-time pound-for-pound terms than Oscar De La Hoya in any serious list. There's not even a good argument to the contrary, no matter how you look at it.

Top 3ish. RJJ is higher. So is maybe Pac, Floyd and Whitaker but I don't think anyone else.

no, i don't think greatest. de la hoya is likely #1 of this time period titles from 130 up to jr middle, always made great fights, and is responsible for bringing the lower divisions into the mainstream eye (post tyson, the mainstream was just seeing the heavies). bernards greatness suffers from some really, truely, dull fights (that he made dull), and a lack of depth at middle weight when he held the crown for the most defenses. however, as time passes, a win will be a win, a record will be a record, and his longevity will elevate him.

He's very under-rated now. In 20 years, he'll unanimously be the best of the last 20 years.
