Is it possible to lose muscle?

Im nearly 18, and when I was at school 15/16 I done alot of weight training for a good year. I stopped completely for about a year and a half and went straight into boxing, im not as big as I used to be which is good, but I still have a fair amount of muscle biceps, triceps, chest, and traps. Im 5'9 143 pounds, so I am fairly slim. When I box its like my arms and shoulders turn really big, and other amatuer boxers I've seen have pretty slim arms. I dont know if this is an advantage/disadvantage, as I'm pretty strong for my weight, and I'm pretty fast, but not sure if their extra muscle is a disadvatge for me? I would must rather have slim arms, and just wondering if over time whilst im still growing, will they naturally not grow any bigger. Appreciate the help, thanks!

Just read your post properly... Your height/weight ratio is fine... don't lose muscle simply train for endurance rather then strength.

Different people have diffeerent bodies. Some people never train and are muscular. Some are dead skinny, some hold more fat. Mesomorph, Ectomorph and Endomorphs i think. Your prob the first one. Why are you bothered if you look different to them- if your doing the job thats all that matters.

It takes years of training and physical maturity before you know what your fighting weight (and fighting physique) will be. If you engage in proper boxing training your body will acquire the muscle it needs. It all happens spontaneously so you don't have to worry about it.

forget the weights. concentrate on your boxing, circuit training etc and let your body find it's natural fighting weight.

  8. If you want to be a fighter then focusing on fighting. Your ideal physique will become apparent when it's shaped around your fighting style.

Although it doesn't hurt to get into the strength training if that what you want.

ANd yes, losing muscle is easy. Limit your diet and work out for long periods and your body will begin feeding off your muscle tissue and start developing long lean muscle associated with that kind of training.

Limit your protein intake, protein is muscle sparring.
