How many HWs peak at 22?? I know that 'pugilist perfectionists' will always sneer at Tyson but I truly believe that at the age of 22 Tyson would have beaten any HW in history.
Despite his careers overall shortcomings, it's still hard to dispute that had the team of Cus and Mike been able to stay together, they could have gone down as the best ever. I still have a hard time watching the fights of when Tyson gets beat. I avoid watching the Douglas fight as much as possible because it still bothers me the same way as it did when I watched it live on tv as a kid. Being from this area it was all about Mike, I was devastated after this loss. I actually saw these vids last week because I'm always checking out GP's page. It prompted me to NetFlix the Tyson documentary which I wound up watching last night http://movies.nytimes.com/2009/04/24/movies/24tyso.html It's an interesting look into Mike's life through his own words. Has anyone else seen the movie? Being a huge fan I definitely enjoyed it, you learn so much more about him. I wish Iron Mike the very best.
Damn man. Seeing Mike Tyson lose to Buster Douglas is like something dying in me. Even after all of these years. Powerful. That was the end of an era. Mike Tyson will always be one of the greatest to ever do it!
:sad2Same. If the videos would have included clips of him studying video of old fights & more video of his life outside of the ring, this would have been like a perfect synopsis of that documentary Tyson that came out not too long ago. @TS: Thanks for posting these! :thumbsup
If only Cus had a couple more years. He could have finished the rest of Tyson's training especially regarding how to deal with the success. It really is so damn sad, that story between Cus and Mike, its a shame.
slick willie, there's a feeling of nostalgia when I look at your avatar. Not only for the man but also for the division he once ruled with an iron fist.
