Skilled grappler yes; what I said was "skilled in wrestling from the clinch" which Nog absolutely is not.

Sure he should. Especially since he's undefeated and just came through a rather difficult fight against a former Pride champion. For every kick Shogun threw - Machida either blocked or evaded it or countered with a straight punch to the chin or landed a leg kick of his own to the legs or body of Shogun. Every time shogun tried to clinch Machida hit him with solid knees - then stuffed his takedown attempts. Shogun had a great game plan but he was outfought. Those guys are so evenly matched - they really need an unlimited number of rounds to see which one falls first.

Definitely. That's why its so weird that Fightmetric had Shogun landing more strikes every single round of the fight...

I saw those stats as well. I think they scored kicks that were blocked, evaded or countered.

Dude, your comments are bordering on the insane.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume you were high. :hat

  9. Many other fighters has had better opponent and with a better fight record. Look it up. Randy and Mir in my books are not top competition no matter how much Dana and the UFC hypes them up.

So Lesnar, Mir, and Couture are not top fighters, or in Randy's case wasn't at the time?

So who is? Name 5 better fighters than those 3 at the time of the fight? Still waiting for those 5 better HWs than Lesnar.

You are a joke; Faber makes the list over Aldo and Brown despite being beaten twice by Brown and Aldo beating Brown for the belt.

    GSP
    Penn
    Mousasi
    Aoki
    Anderson
    Shogun
    Machida
    Jackson
    Alvarez
    Barnett

    Honorable mention
    Melendez , Aldo , Akiyama , Kawajiri , Hansen , Overeem , Rogerio , Brown...

    NOTE:
I do not include Fedor Emelianenko in the P4P list because:
    - He's in a league of his own.
    - a living legend of the sport.

In other words , no need to even bother ranking him. GSP is on his way to become an ATG (so are Penn & Anderson) , But Fedor already is an ATG.

    - I also ranked Mousasi ahead of Anderson , Machida , Shogun & Aoki (i even wanted to rank him ahead of Penn)... Simply because i personally think he's the most skilled , complete , LHW i've seen since prime Shogun in 2005. I don't know how long he'll be able to keep this domination of his...but so far , he's a monster.

    - I also ranked Shogun above Machida because of his much more impressive career achievements (his GP victory) , and of course because of the fact that he clearly defeated Machida in his last fight.

I also ranked Aoki ahead of Anderson because as one dimensional as he may be , he's probably one of the most skilled grappler in the sport (along with Penn & GSP) , also , based on Anderson's division & his past loses...I feel like Aoki is the superior fighter.

(i can't ignore the fact that Anderson's division is filled with mediocre grapplers for the most part...And it's also hard to ignore what happened against Lutter , one of the rare "descent" grapplers he ever had to face in the ufc )... (it seems to me that japan's mma scene is overall , more talented in the grappling department)....i can't forget his losses against the likes of chonan (who's good but inconsistent) & takase (a real "can" but who can grapple better than most ufc mw)...

His victory a LHW (Griffin) was almost predictable & not an amazing feat. (Anderson cuts weight to fight and should be fighting in the LHW division anyway)...

I can't rank jackson above shogun. And i still added Barnett , because roid scandal aside , i feel like he's one of the rare HW fighter who can do it all. (unlike Lesnar , unlike Carwin , Gonzaga a a few others).

Barnett can strike , can submit (defensive and offensively) , he's endurant , and can wrestle...i'm not including Nogueira because he's way , past his prime...and also , like fedor...it's kinda useless...he's already an ATG.

I may be biased in my selection...but so be it.

Having said all that...the P4P argument is bull**** anyway. and mostly based on personal opinion , there's nothing scientific about it.

Fedor, Barnett, Big Nog, Overeem and arguably Frank Mir (1-1).
