Does Bernard Hopkins have 1 punch KO power?

Any fighter can score a KO if he connects properly but the answer to the thread question must be NO.

 

Ask Felix Trinidad.

 

Check out some of his older stuff and that might answer you question. He may not be a one punch demon but there are a lot of sting on his shots. And his younger, more aggressive self had some brutal and early stoppages on his ledger.

A lot of the commentators in his earlier fights referred to him as a puncher, picking that out as his main quality...in fact he sometimes he was the "puncher" and his foe was the "boxer" according the commentators which sounds kind of funny now considering the master boxer he become.

Dont worry about Nard...The man can punch when he needs to but he has gradually slipped into a more defensive and more technical shell as he has aged.

No. Great accuracy though which is good for accumulation damage or the occasional flash knockdown, but BHop does not now, nor did he ever have true one punch KO power.

 

Age and movement in weight have drained him of it. He is more of a bruiser now.

Maybe at 160. If he puts perfect timing and technique into it and the punch comes outta nowhere. Above 160 he lacks power

It's not B-Hop's game.
I'm sure if he applied himself & put more pressure he could have had more K.O.'s.
This grind out style of his suits him better for this stage.
(Even a younger MW B-Hop was based on patience & applied aggression)

But true "One Punch" power.... NO.

 

well its simply not part of hopkins style, but he is without a question a strong puncher. he just looks to outbox and counter his opponents whether than get him out of there with a vicious assault or a sunday punch. but i think if b-hop wanted to be, he could be a devastating puncher. the guy has some brutal knockouts in highlight reel.

 

No one punch power. He has quick power and can knock someone down with a flash knockdown, but one punch he does not have.
