Echols was a real power puncher and he is just a lot bigger than Trinidad. This makes sense.

I'm curious to know who he thinks hit him harder "now". He's fought some pretty big punchers since then, namely Pavlik and Tarver. After the Pavlik fight he said Pavlik was heavy handed and he felt his punches, wasn't hurt but he admitted he "felt Pavliks punches". When he fought Tarver, he said he saw why Tarver beat Johnson and knocked out Roy Jones, (referring to Tarvers punching power).

Odd how he picked Echols, who you seem to be a pretty big fan of. Especially when Segundo Mercado dropped him twice and had him out on his feet.

people say that about lots of fighters. you'll hear fighters say, so and so hit harder then tyson, so and so hit harder then foreman, etc. but as it stands, echols, as already mentioned was the naturally bigger fighter. but also remember hopkins never got caught with a flush shot from trinidad.

Good tidbit. No surprise. Echols was extremely powerful, especially at the time, and especially against Hopkins.

Echols was always one of the heaviest hitters in the game. This should not be news to anyone.

I don't doubt that statement at all for BHop, there's a lot of guys like Vargas/Reid that would say Trinidad for them and be true as well.

Vargas and Reed were 154 pounders, Hopkins 160

Old news. He said it many times over after his fight with Tito.

Actually i saw parts of it at some Bar-nightclub but it was hard to pay full attention. Since I was with friends and females. I thought the first one was pretty good and from the little ive seen of tje second fight and read about it ,seems like Echols put up a better challenge the first time.:huh

He has maintained that for years. And im not to surprised. Echols was a beastly puncher in his prime, to bad Nard stole his heart in their two foul fests.
