Anyone change their mind on Amir Khan?

so he has a shaky chin and says that he would be more poopular if he was white.

I think he can bounce back with a few more confidence building wins and starting from scratch. Plus him fighting Pacquiao as a sparring partner can only help his career.

I like fighters who man up and work on their weaknesses. How can you not root for something like that?

 

Couldn't agree more. Dudes expect him to take on the top fighters in the division already. He's just turned 23 and has only had 22 fights. WHo was Mayweather and Pacquaio fighting at that stage of their career?

 

boxing ability aside, in the past it has been Khan himself who has said he can take on the top guys in the division...even ready to fight Pacquiao. Then he got KTFOatsch

 

I have he has improved alot since I first saw him about two years ago. I thought he was nothing but a hype job. With that said I still think his chin will let him down again.

I respect someone for recognising their weaknesses and working on them which im sure he and Roach do in the gym..
He is still learning and alot of people are expecting too much too soon, if you were to listen to 1/2 the posters on here he should quit now and never fight again because hes a crap fighter with no chin..

The big tests will come when hes ready if he can keep improving..

One thing i liked about the Salita fight was the fact he sat down on his punches from the off which was my only major critism of him in the Kotelnik fight where he pitty patty'd a bit and never really got Kotelnik to respect his power. So it looks like that has been addressed by himself and Roach.

He didnt say that, you said Kotelnik is not a real challenge, however Kotelnik beat Maidana in a great fight and obviously was a real challenge.

 

Not changed my mind

 

He's a talented former Olympic medalist with flaws that he is working on. The thing is, he is taking part in main events on PPV's and has a world title despite being a relative novice in the pro game. You can argue he is a fast mover who is so talented that he's achieved so much already or that he's protected by Warren and has been given more opportunities and carefully picked opposition than any recent fighter that springs to mind. The truth is, as usual, somewhere in between.

 

He's done well and I wish nothing but the best.
Yeh he's been thrust into the lime light very early, hence the casual fan expects big fights over night. Those who understand boxing will tell you things don't happen over night. There's a lot that he needs to add to his game, but his transition to world champ is remarkable in such short time. A fighter doesnt just turn up on the night and become champ, so give him his props. Defended his mandatory aswell, so Yeh he's work in progress.

Not sure why people dislike him so much, I've heard he's arrogant maybe, but he's said stuff no different to any other fighter out there. Guy has aspirations to succeed and that has to be coupled with self confidence, which is fine.

Anyway he's a talent and I hope he goes all the way and hope there's loads more talented boxers coming through.

Nope I still think he is an overrated fighter...he seems to believe his own hype and that's a dangerous place to be as a young up and comer!
